Worst performing of all was Asda which checked out 4.7 per cent less in sales than the same 12 weeks a year ago whilst both Tesco and Morrisons were off the boil by 1.8 per cent.

It wasn’t all bad news for the so-called big four however, with Sainsbury’s bucking the trend to post a 0.4 per cent increase in sales over the three month period. This was eclipsed by figures from Marks & Spencer, Aldi and Lidl however which grew by 3.9, 27.5 and 21.7 per cent respectively.

Afternoon EI , I`m barely up for 2015 , including dividends, just about +3.5%.

Still a few weeks to go though. Poor week for MKS even taking the dividend into account, -4% for the seven days.

Tempted to add at 510p today but got up and went out for a walk instead :-D

October markets really caught me out as had positioned largely in cash
expecting lower levels, will stay away from any predictions for November
but have kept modest equity exposure.

probably holding it down to help with the buyback.Since 8 July 2015, Marks & Spencer has purchased 12,192,383 shares at a cost (including dealing and associated costs) of GBP62,592,266.



buyback will leave more residual profit for holders and result in bigger dividends in future
