Canaccord's target would be more credible given these others have kept promoting the stock lately. Canaccord changed stance to "sell" in June:

(Bloomberg) -- Majestic is only one year into its three year plan under the new executive team, and there remains much to be proved and delivered over the medium term, Canaccord says in note, cutting from hold to sell.
Management concedes that it is too early to tell whether the LFL recovery in Retail is simply a bounce or a trend
Believes the valuation has moved too far ahead of potential earnings delivery

Yes Peel Hunt reckoned a stonking buy just a few weeks ago (shows how much notice to take). Although the recent trading context appears to suggest they should indeed be announcing an upgrade to current year profit!

Could never understand the valuation. Much better off with Conviviality ( CVR ) trading on forward pe of about 10 and prospective divi of 5.7%Over 3x the turnover of Majestic and better run

The Telegraph, in all its wisdom, reports that the board now forecasts a profit of £16.1 million. This was actually the consensus before the warning that appears to knock off about £4 million.

Disappointing also in the sense there was a report t'other day of record booze sales as the UK celebrated Olympics' success; although the spell of warm weather and supermarket discounting may also have helped.

Rating was high, and may still be, e.g. expectations for EPS of 16p or so... if that's 12p now then a P/E of 25 at 300p/share.

I don't think this will recover soon. Previously seen as a growth story with amazing new management. Now seen as a failed growth story with a high rating and poor management.

Btw, I'm drinking the Chateau Toutigeac Grande Reserve 2014 as I type, very nice indeed - it's 12.5% which is where I like them, it's also just £8.45 a bottle and it's going down very well with my late night cheese and biscuits,

For anyone who likes a reasonably priced claret, Bordeaux Undiscovered have a cracker - the Chateau L’Esperance - cracking value imo at £8.45 a bottle. It's creeping up in price since they first offered it and I'm not surprised, got stuff in my rack that cost four times that price and is no better imo - and it ticks the boxes, it's a 2009, a Superieur and Mis en Bouteille au Chateau.

Winemakers Warn of a Coming Burgundy ‘Apocalypse’
Blame the weather or dizzying price spikes, one of the world’s most storied wine regions appears to be in a bubble—and it may be about to burst.
