Probably precisely because for many people, the returns WON'T cover the transaction costs.

Will be loads who bought say £1k shares at a quid; now worth £4 pre-comm. And many comm rates/sizes/prices inbetween. Waiting for the 0.097p at least doesn't involve a commission payment.

(Also - there's still plenty of fools out there who think they still own Jessops the trading business).

If you still hold shares on suspension, presumably the share is then delisted and your only entitlement is the .09p on offer? If so - why not try and dump them now - assuming the returns cover the transaction costs.

Try reading the threads already in existence - JSP does not own any Jessops shops, the name, or any of the business.

Could have been a great short. I got into WLW and land of leather. There must be more of these dated retailers that are gonna go bust. not in the Uk now, so anyone got any good doom stories? sorry to be so vulturish, but my few quid on a downward bet wont make much difference.

Why are people buying at 0.5p a share that is only worth 0.097p

rossannan, did the company actually say, "It will be de-listed before Christmas"?

What they said was, "It is the intention of the Board to put Jessops Plc into solvent liquidation before the end of this year".

So still a few days left.

I've just got my latest lens from my local "Jessops". No shortage of customer service there.

Hey all... Just noticed this news posted:

Is this the end for Jessops? :-(

I really hate seeing shops close as ultimatley jobs are at risk, and i cant see anyone wanting to buy Jessops out.

Bit of a shame jessops was quite a cosy shop, but could never compete with the big guns on price & variety. Were becoming like america where everythings big but without the customer service of small shops.

Dylan400d - it would seem so. The business has been transferred.

I agree with moneyman, especially the last comment post 3461.

If it was me in this now (as I was), I would sell (I have totally at loss).

This is NOT a speculative chrimbo punt.

so with this 100,000 spread between shareholders, even if The new Jessops had a fantastic christmas and made 10 million profit, this would have no affect on the share price?

I see they are thinking of bringing Woolworths back to the high street. It can return with new investors and no debt. All old shareholders lost everything. Becareful with these retail outlets

I agree that the costs of trading leads to inefficiencies when the price drops so far. But the effort to trade must also be factored in. Even at +£2.50, would it be worth the effort?

PS I've just ordered another £1k lens from my local "Jessops". Almost everything imported though, so falling UKP will cut into sales. They did a good deal for shareholders, I think.
