We had another day like this on June 14th. Evidently JLT shares are prone to move a lot on relatively small volume. There are sector consolidation hopes swirling around. There has been talk of an offer from Benfield and that JLT may buy the insurance arm of Heath Lambert. Meanwhile I hold on for the dividend and wait for developments.

If the Benfield story is substantiated, it will be interesting to see what happens to Benfields share price as they're seen to be fully priced.
There is a lot of work to be done with JLT's largest shareholder as any bid could be blocked by them.
Manda - what are your thoughts?

By Jon Menon and Alexis Xydias
June 15 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Plc,
the U.K.'s second-biggest publicly traded insurance broker, surged
21 percent on speculation the company is a takeover target.
The shares rose as much as 71 pence to 416 pence and traded at
405 pence as of 9:31 a.m. in London, valuing the company at 851
million pounds ($1.57 billion).
The company ``is in an area that has been the focus of
consolidation for some time,'' said Lawrence Peterman, investment
director at Eden Financial in London. ``I wouldn't be surprised if
we get an announcement, one way or another, after this jump.''
Jardine Lloyd spokesman Barrie Cornes declined to comment.

Short covering or bid. If no announcement, short covering.

Looking stronger now on the back of Benfield's news of better prospects.
Perhaps £3 was a tad low for this week, give it to the end of the month.

Further downward pressure today, I suspect not just the state of the general market, this is going sub £3 by the end of the week.

Jimbob, JLT were making quite a bit of the fact that they had been recruiting heavily recently, is that because they were expecting to lose people? Thanks for your info.

Thanks Jimbob, would expect the price to go down on this news, this can't be an attractive proposition for them, Heath Lambert have really been struggling over the past five years. Perhaps JLT are hoping this will push their share price down lower to assist them in their ultimate goal of taking the company private. Imho.
