10/2/2006 23:09 | nop, leverage play on the $ with rates still to go further in the us $ will follow as will jlt profits. | walker10
09/2/2006 14:53 | Yep, went short recently. Various issues in sector almost all negative, hence downward movement in price. New chief exec who may want to get all the dirty washing out. Could go quite a bit further IMHO of course, as always DYOR etc etc. | brownie69
09/2/2006 14:28 | I am thinking of shorting this anyone any views..?? | davidnorman911
02/2/2006 09:45 | well well well ramp over, what a surprise, shorts closed out dump the stock.. | stu31
21/1/2006 08:34 | Thanks for that Redd. I have kept my long open, planning to sell if it closes below 450. Watching the trading for the past few days, the big seller seems to have gone, which is a relief. | benson
20/1/2006 09:44 | benson - sorry but been away. Very nasty drop but the 5x3 P+F chart shows the price currently resting on the uptrend line. It would be bearish if this was broken. Looking at the 3x3 chart again the price today is resting on an important uptrend line and ther are 2 counts of 585p and 588p that are still active. Consequently, whilst not looking great just now, there is still some potential for a rebound from this level. | redd
13/1/2006 12:46 | This is nasty. Any thoughts Redd? | benson
07/12/2005 16:25 | A little bit difficult that one as targets may not be met (obviously at some point shares, in general, will go down - it's explained fully in the book) and can be surpassed. However, with a price target of 585p and the buy signal at 456p you may decide it becomes a hold at the half way point. You could, of course, still continue buying but with a tighter stoploss ie. not the P+F double bottom sell signal at 432p. | redd
07/12/2005 15:43 | Yes, I did misunderstand - and an 'as of today' list is what I need. I'll purchase the book by Jeremy du Plessis to get started. Thanks. One last question: at what price (assuming it continues upwards) does JLT stop being a 'buy' and become a 'hold'? Thanks. | benson
07/12/2005 15:38 | You may have misunderstood the list. Following your question, I posted those shares from my list that are performing best in terms of meeting their targets. Consequently now is not the time to buy as they have travelled so far - basically a 'hold' for now. I think what you need is a list 'as of today' to look through. P+F is very legitimate way to trade and while it is simple to see buy and sell signals it is best to learn the principles behind it. The book by Jeremy du Plessis is a good place to start (The Definitive Guide to Point and Figure). | redd
07/12/2005 15:13 | Thanks Redd. I just looked at the charts and seeing those spikes up makes me nervous. Do you wait for a pull back before buying? (Or do I need to go away and do some work on understanding P&F?) | benson
07/12/2005 14:49 | Hello benson - I am currently monitoring a list of 27 Ftse350 stocks that had a current risk to reward (double bottom sell signal against count target) ratio of over 3. The best performers so far are BGY, DNX, HHR, MPI and RAT. | redd
07/12/2005 14:23 | You beat me to it Redd - nice chart. And high time to go long. BTW: I dont do P&F: do you have any other stocks you are long of that work on P&F ? Thanks. | benson
07/12/2005 13:20 | Nice breakout today. Next major level is 603p reached in Jan 2004 - close to P+F target. | redd
30/11/2005 11:05 | Acting very strong today against a generally weak market. Breaking above high of November 2004. Looks quite interesting on P+F 3x3. Target of 585p. | redd
12/10/2005 18:01 | Seems to happen a lot to shares with high profile shorter involvement Benson, thinking CWD, PDG, MKS to name a few recently, fundamentals don't come into it.. | stu31
12/10/2005 09:28 | stu31: good point about shorters involvement. Looking at the price spike that makes a lot of sense. I emailed a national newspaper financial journalist yesterday (dont know him but took the punt that he may reply) and asked him to comment on JLT. His first response was that the rise looked 'suspicious'. Then he emailed again to say ignore his first email because of the Numis upgrade. Hmm. I remain (painfully) short. | benson
11/10/2005 22:36 | Wow, never knew that a £1bn stock could go up 10% on the back of a spivvy brokers upgrade, fantastic news! Their customers must all be loaded, presumably all on a desert island at the moment sipping champagne looking at their gleaming yachts. I'll be ringing them tomorrow to go on their client list, obviously can't lose. Just imagine if they tip a small cap, could double in minutes! This stock was already going up exponentially before they said buy, clearly a pe of 20 odd is way too low should be on at least 30. And with the S&P about to dump big time it's an even better bet. Yes well done Numis. p.s. don't suppose shorters involvement with this stock had anything to do with it, nah of course not. | stu31
11/10/2005 12:25 | Numis target 535. | benson
11/10/2005 10:43 | Numis upgrade to 'buy'. | benson
11/10/2005 09:00 | 470p what's happening, takeover??? | danny murphy
04/10/2005 17:32 | Has anyone seen any reason for the big spike in price today other than these were undervalued | betman
04/10/2005 17:14 | Congrats Danny!! | rabain
04/10/2005 16:37 | 451p that will do nicely. I have now reduced my holding. Now have a holding cost of 185p per share for a long term hold. I believe the price is now at full value and I am now underweight in holding. Will increase holding if it goes down to 395p. | danny murphy
04/10/2005 13:03 | 438p keep going almost there. | danny murphy |
