12/8/2016 19:53 | It shouldn`t. If you want to get announcements it looks as though you will have to register your email address with the company, or phone them and say you already have , but are no longer being notified . | roddiemac2
12/8/2016 16:00 | Yes, I think I did see that, but why should that make any difference to the RNS messages? | bouleversee
12/8/2016 15:30 | Yes, I used to get them automatically. It looks as though the appointment of a joint house broker has interrupted service!------ 10 August 2016 James Fisher and Sons plc Corporate Stockbroker Appointment The Board of James Fisher and Sons plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Jefferies International Limited as joint corporate stockbroker alongside Investec Bank plc, the Company's existing broker, with immediate effect. | roddiemac2
12/8/2016 15:08 | Thanks, Roddiemac. I don't know why I didn't get that RNS or indeed the previous one as I used to get them regularly. | bouleversee
12/8/2016 11:02 | close 07:00 11/08/2016 Fisher (James) - Acquisition of Hughes Sub Surface Engineering RNS Number : 8613G Fisher (James) & Sons plc 11 August 2016 11 August 2016 JAMES FISHER AND SONS PLC (FSJ.L) ACQUISITION OF HUGHES SUB SURFACE ENGINEERING James Fisher ("James Fisher" or the "Group") announces the acquisition of the entire share capital of Hughes Marine Engineering Limited, the holding company of Hughes Sub Surface Engineering Limited ("Hughes Sub Surface"). The initial consideration is £9.0m in cash, with further future consideration of up to £1.0m subject to certain profit targets being met by 28th February 2017. Hughes Sub Surface's profit before taxation for the 12 months to end April 2016 was £1.6m (unaudited). Hughes Sub Surface was founded in Liverpool in 2005 to provide commercial diving and civil engineering services to underwater projects. The business operates in the marine renewables, power generation, oil and gas, and inshore civil engineering sectors. Nick Henry, Chief Executive Officer of James Fisher, said: "The operations of Hughes Sub Surface are complementary to those of James Fisher and, combined, they will broaden our range of services to the market, particularly to the renewable energy industry offshore. We are delighted to welcome all our new colleagues to the Group and look forward to working with them." E C Hambro Rabben & Partners has acted as corporate adviser to James Fisher and Sons plc. | roddiemac2
12/8/2016 10:54 | This morning's Times listed Fisher in their major movements, mentioning share price rise due to acquisition but didn't give details. So who have they acquired now? I suppose I should have a look on their website but wd be interested to know whether the experts on here think it's a good move. My biggest holding so am pleased they've come back to previous highs. | bouleversee
12/8/2016 10:50 | Yes, although interim results, due at the end of this month, are expected to be weaker year on year, you can see why the shares are rising. Now would seem to be a good time to buy smaller compatible businesses. It is only a matter of time before the oil price stabilises and related activity increases. In the meantime FSJ have a number of contracts that will kick in in the second half. | roddiemac2
12/8/2016 08:40 | and again ! | emeraldzebra
28/7/2016 19:36 | In case you missed it, FSJ got promoted to the FTSE 250 last Friday (22 July). That's why there was the 343k uncrossing volume at close on 21 July. | typo56
26/7/2016 15:36 | hi Roddie - did you hear back re the currency situ ? thanks. | emeraldzebra
20/7/2016 10:09 | i think it is also fair to say that clarksons and braemar are only distantly related sector wise. Fisher much more specialised and in more rarefied domaine. | emeraldzebra
05/7/2016 18:06 | rivaldo , I spoke with someone in the company this afternoon .I was told there was an announcement last week saying that recent currency movements would be beneficial( as you might expect): no RNS , so perhaps it was made to institutional holders-? I will try to get hold of Stuart kilpatrick or the house broker tomorrow | roddiemac2
05/7/2016 13:56 | Cheers roddiemac2. Prospects for FSJ remain good, but with the H2 weighting I wasn't particularly expecting FSJ to do so well, especially with the gloomy prospects espoused by sector constituents BMS and CKN. Those two obviously aren't directly comparable to FSJ, but I suppose sector nervousness could have played a part. Instead FSJ is ploughing its own path, which is good to see. | rivaldo
05/7/2016 13:25 | PS I have not yet looked at how currency movements will affect their earnings. | roddiemac2
05/7/2016 12:07 | FSJ's share price is performing amazingly well post-Brexit. Any opinions on why - perhaps to do with all those foreign earnings being worth more in sterling now? Must admit I haven't looked yet to see how hedged (or not) FSJ are. | rivaldo
08/6/2016 10:13 | With the EU vote looming, volumes are down across most of the market, and many shares are drifting. A vote to leave could provide a very good opportunity to buy FSJ at lower prices. | roddiemac2
03/6/2016 10:09 | Well the operating profit in year ended 2014 was 2.2m before the oil price plummeted, so not so crazy perhaps | nfs
03/6/2016 10:06 | hardly worth £20m on the market cap! | phillis
03/6/2016 08:42 | Nice little deal todayI saw the Plc presentation about 3 years ago and R2S was the jewel in the crown. Fisher have dived straight in to buy it | nfs
02/6/2016 08:38 | thanks vm Roddie. | emeraldzebra
01/6/2016 23:30 | emerald, One,---you can`t expect a shareprice to go up in a straight line forever. Two,--- nothing has altered the companies prospects . There is little point in worrying about short term price movements in a company that looks to have good long term prospects. | roddiemac2
01/6/2016 12:49 | thoughts on the recent weakness please ? ta. | emeraldzebra |
