Biogen fell sharply yesterday along with Eli Liily off 11% on disappointment about failure of Alzheimer's drug

Great rise and BIOG.

More that double the NAV discount to BIOG. Considering that the share price of each near enough tracks the other is totally nonsensical.

Good news!! IBT is to pay a 4% divi starting January I believe.

I used to be in this and WWH and Biog but have switched to BB BiotechTrust. It pays a 5% dividend. NAV is about £4 billion from memory and is Swiss based. I still have a small IBT holding. I've not found any negatives on BION (epic) yet. Please post if you dig some up.

This is where my ARM money is going for sure. Lets hope the vote on divi and un-quoted investments goes through.

I've been looking at biotech funds for a while now and just took a position here - I think when investors cotton on to the 4.5% divi yield / normal access to growth a fund like this offers the discount will narrow over time.

"Subject to shareholder approval, the first dividend is expected to be declared in December 2016 and paid in January 2017. The dividend payments should help to further align shareholder interests with portfolio performance"If they pay 4% of NAV,that would equate to a yield of around 4.5% given the discount to asset value.A real attraction and hopefully the perennial discount to NAV will narrow markedly as a result. The move into the unquoted investment arena is mirroring what Woodford has been doing to a lesser extent.Good strategy imo.

Re today's div proposal rns, relevant nav on link below. So that's 23p total for next company year, 11.5p in Jan and the same in Aug. http://uk.advfn.com/stock-market/london/int-biotech-IBT/share-news/Intl-Biotechnology-Trust-PLC-Net-Asset-Values/72335722 http://uk.advfn.com/stock-market/london/int-biotech-IBT/share-news/Intl-Biotechnology-Trust-PLC-Statement-Re-Divide/72396462

Read Edison's note on INTERNATIONAL BIOTECHNOLOGY (IBT), out this morning, by visiting hxxps://www.research-tree.com/company/GB0004559349 "International Biotechnology Trust (IBT) is a long-established specialist fund investing in listed (c 90%) and unlisted (c 10%) companies in the high-growth area of biotechnology. After several years of strong absolute returns, the past six months have seen a sell-off in the sector, arguably sparked more by political pressure and investor risk aversion than by company fundamentals. While a resumption of bull market conditions is uncertain in the near term, the demographic factors and scientific advances underlying innovation..."

I would wait for the obvious support level at around £3.20 and then re-evaluate. Looks like a complex head and shoulders top to me, so the decline has further to run if I'm right about this.

Due a bounce from what I can see of the RSI and stochastic in the following chart, but moving averages (EMAs) are looking ugly: hxxp://www.stockopedia.com/charts/technical/?Code=LON:IBT&Span=360&Size=L&Type=3&Percentage=0&Volume=1&OVER[]=&OVER[]=&Scale=1&COMP[]=&COMP[]=&COMP[]=&COMP[]=&COMP[]=&IND[]=Vol&IND[]=RSI&IND[]=MACD&IND[]=SStoch&MA[]=50&MA[]=100&MA[]=200&;MAType[]=EMA&MAType[]=EMA&MAType[]=EMA&uniqueID=590&endDate=2016-01-20 There is a death cross at the 50 day and 100 day EMAs and it looks like the 200 day is about to be breached by both. Once that happens, this is in a downtrend and bear market territory. On that note, see: hxxp://www.shareprophets.com/views/18049/the-free-ride-is-over-bad-news-now-really-is-bad-news For what it's worth, that chart is ugly and my money (if I was in a locale from which I could short sell) would be on this falling far further. The Biotech sector has benefited greatly from QE-induced inflows since 2009, and now looks like a bubble in the earlier stages of deflating. In the long run we are all dead (as John Maynard Keynes once said). However, I will be a buyer of this trust at some point, but not until I've seen far more pain in equities this year (and I'm positioned for a real humdinger on that score). Looking at that chart, I'd also expect to see this trust trading far lower in 6 months time.
