It's because they changed the manager and bought stocks in line with BIOG which trade at a premium to NAV. Despite my broker's reservations I accumulated IBT when at large discount to NAV-25%+ and it paid off. I sold a third recently as it was my largest holding in my portfolio. I return to UK tomorrow and might sell some BIOG where my initial purchase was at £1. I also hold WWH but I don't hold the tranche that I bought at 336p when Clinton was President. Tech and Bio Tech is the future but both sectors are prone to crashing now and again so I have taken £20k off the table if I sell a bit of BIOG tomorrow.

Amazing rally - up 30% in the last month and during that time I reckon the price has gapped up 10 times (clear gaps). Unbelievable strength - and still at an 11.6% discount to the NAV! Any weakness and I am topping up.

Can't argue with you Phil probably makes sense to take some money off the table- definite long-termer for me though.

Well this was at 25% discount for yonks and I can't see this going less than 10% as for BIOG, they could go to a premium and have a buy back mandate in place if discount widens to more than 8%?? I think from memory.
Still hold £25k worth after sell today. If you were trading this stock then now won't be a bad time to sell. longer term holder? Don't sell.

I won't sell until they at least trade at a premium to NAV. There was always due to be a feeding frenzy for Biotech stocks (and has been in the past), and when UK investors cotton on that there are only a few Investment Trusts available the discount will disappear. When is goes to a premium then time to sell and go into a Unit Trust - e.g. Axa Biotech Trust imho.

Overtime, in line with biotech growth, there will be setbacks but long term hold in SIPP. I bought BIOG at £1 now £6.

How far do you think they have to go Phil?

Sold 20% of total holding, trading a/c holding. Rest 80% held in SIPP. Discount to NAV has halved.

My target is when their discount to NAV falls to 12.5%.

I read IBT's report and accounts and it looked to me they were moving more towards BIOG type holdings.

I think it's because the NAV goes up more slowly - seems to be just as risky as BIOG without the upside. Pure discount play IMO

Anyone know why this trades at a 30% discount to NAV? Compared to
BIOG which is nearly at NAV.
