The reality is we won’t find anyone better than Ian.

Media training does not work for people in the media industry we see through it and wrote the book on it particularly editors!
Larry’s Podcasts are pretty informal chats, anyway if you’re unhappy with Ian then write to the chairman or sell your shares I couldn’t suffer being in a share I didn’t believe and back I would and will sell if that happens.

The bet is on SS genius his 20 years in development Codec.


SS is busy perfecting Blackbird with higher resolution (useful information in that interview and for when it should be released by)

So It’s in my opinion it needs one of the big US tech companies to get behind it. We are only a small company!

Everything else is a sideshow it’s the large scale take up I’m here for but some are now here just to get their money back which is a sad way to approach investing.

Hi NickNo, you can't replace a CEO at this stage. And for me the jury is still out, the next set of results are key which you said yourself. My point is that media training costs about £3000. Surely thats a good investment in him.

If you’re unhappy with IM then get support from shareholders for his removal at the AGM.

Personally I think he is one of the best things to happen for FBT and has my full support.

Is the codec protected by patent?

I believe it is. Saying that, it was a good while ago now and am a) not sure how long a patent of that type lasts (25 years?) plus b) it is evolving a lot over time so perhaps it has gone beyond the original design.

Also there are other elements around it like the pixelated timeline on the player.

It should be possible to check.

Failing that - sounds like a good AGM question.

BTW - I called out IM's share presentations as a Forscene rehash.

Everyone else was quiet because they could only see a few pence on the share price and vague rubbish of £m deals.

Agree, whether the prime seller or team manager, the CEO of a small company sets the standard and after 18 months IM has to have a working knowledge of the product and (if needed) the ability to promote that product confidently

There is no evidence he is taking others to meetings.

A scenario we know, all the recent (in front of camera and circulated) interviews from FBT feature the CEO and the CEO does not appear to be able to answer tech enquiries.

Is this a problem, maybe not!

Could this be one of the reasons for poor sales? Maybe!

There is a whole UK and USA sales team.

As stated - he will take someone who does, if needed.

For example, we know SS went to Japan for a geek out.

We know Neil Roberts does a load of presentations.

If we had geeks selling then the charge would be that FBT can't sell because techies have no charisma and can;t get in the front door.

That's fine if your boss can't do your job but if he doesn't know what you're doing.... In a company as small as fbt, it's shocking to me that the ceo thinks their core business is magic and knows nothing about it. Even if he learnt something off by heart...

Imagine if your boss couldn't say what was the benefit of you valuing other businesses and couldn't say to a customer why they should use your service over another. Instead he said what you were doing is magic.

Agreed to a point but FBT's main salesman seems to be the CEO! If he is not fully conversant with all the clients questions, send someone else and someone that is!!

I still don't get why IM needs to know.

My boss can;t value a business, but he gets the work and pays someone (me) to do it.

It is the same the world over.

Finders, minders and grinders.

Same as it ever was.

We had 20 years of the geek (SS) trying to sell and that failed.

I think ss is probably the main problem. You may recall him talking of spellbooks. Im needs to corner ss and shake the knowledge out of him.

If im doesn't know what he is selling, how could the sales team be expected to sell? I was with a company with that exact problem before...

Totally agree, Im is selling one thing, the codec and he does not know what it is. That is a complete disaster.

That's the most basic question. It is crippling that IM does not understand the product. Could you imagine a banker ceo that could not tell you the difference between sterling and euros?

This is the guy that is meant to have the company vision and he doesn't even know what he is selling!

FBT has, in essence, one product (the codec) with, potentially, many widespread and varied uses. It is the CEO's responsibility to have a working and communicative knowledge of the product and the ability to articulate that on an expert or layman's level.

If this is a tech company with a tech product then why send a salesman into a tech selling situation who doesn't know the tech and doesn't speak the tech jargon.

I wouldn't worry. Only the people on this board will read the interview and IM will only be part of a pitch, along with SS or Neil Roberts. I don't think IM rocks up to Google, knocking on the door like a pikey selling clothes pegs.As you were.

IM was caught wrong footed so perhaps next time he might respond with something along the lines of: "The simple answer is "yes" but how we do it is proprietary knowledge which you can understand for obvious reasons it is company policy not to divulge".

He might also have the politicians thinking time provider to hand such as "I'm glad you asked me that question but before I answer can I just say..." It's a common fault to speed up when you think you are in a tight spot and the correct response is to slow things down so there is time to sort out a decent answer.

If FBT are going to these shows they could perhaps have a play book of commonly asked questions and the appropriate replies.

Only reason to be invested here is if you like the odds of success and the high reward against the risk.

Otherwise I cannot see the attraction for now.
