The bad news for Blackbird as a consumer ‘video player’ is that it’s worthless if No video Content ever gets encoded.
It needs content that people will watch in the millions or billions so major sports events is the obvious.

So it’s up to the Video content owner.

At least every consumer will automatically have the player so that’s one side of the equation sorted.

Great potential but has to get picked up.

Again all too massive for little us we need a US giant’s help!

You can’t make a file copy of a Blackbird encoded Video only a link.

So only one original ‘internet̵7; copy would exist so easy to take down.

It’s considerably more controlled security.

thx for posting mcsean - liked are r/t!

no system is pirate proof - just put a video camera in front of a screen

but you can raise the bar

e.g. since forbidden's codec is so maliable (the player is downloaded with the video stream, so each user could get a uniquely modified player), then it would be possible to embed a user code on screen, so if a pirate captured the screen and distributed it, then the user whose screen was copied could be identified

the identifier needn't be as blunt as a piece of text visible in plain sight, it could be a watermark leaving a slight variation of colour or brightness, something that could be made out using image processing but not necessarily to the naked eye

the main challenge remains - to persuade a content distributor to do something that is departure to what the herd are doing

it is taken seriously. i have now tv on a mobile and tried to connect the mobile to a tv via a hdmi cable - the app on the phone detected this and turned off the hdmi output and displayed a no-can-do message :-(

it's a measure of the investment required in new infrastructure versus the cost of piracy in terms of loss of revenue - is it worth their effort?

not that cost savings from piracy are not the only benefit of blackbird codec...

CC.

I don't suppose for a moment that it is that simple.

But if it is, then wtf are they doing not marketing as such...

and if it isn't, then wtf are they saying it for in the first place?

Yep. IT would definitely make it more difficult to pirate. Sky's TVNOW makes me shut down a load of applications that it thinks may have the potential to screen record. Not really sure what Stephen meant because the sound and video have to be displayed. at which point they can be recorded by a clever pirate.

Anyway... I am one of three twitter users that liked the tweet. Why not give it a like? It might get some attention.

I can't find it now but about a week ago SS tweeted in response to something about the Game Of Thrones last series being pirated by over 50M users. He commented to the effect that "Pity they weren't using Blackbird". The implication at the time didn't strike me but now on reflection one advantage of Blackbird is its security. So am I right in thinking that if they had been using Blackbird, which prevented entry, and charging say £1 per view they would have been £50M in pocket? If so a huge new ongoing market opens up.

An extended version of this (By OP and HD) maybe useful (presented and filmed behind closed doors) where FBT list

1. Reasons a company should incorporate the FBT technology
2. Reasons a company cannot afford NOT to incorporate the technology

IMHO

The presentation from Oliver Parker and Huw Dymond is slick and shows off the technology and its capabilities. (Well played guys)

The partnership with Microsoft is positive but I think FBT and their Tech is way better than that!

I (not an expert) prefer it to the sharesoc presentation as it is more professional and informative with no hyperbole and wish-washy anecdotes.

Their presentation is perfectly pitched to the audience, a mixture of industry and layman's terms and good language, graphics and tech examples.

This is a serious 'bit of kit' with almost infinite uses imho... Perhaps FBT could cut out their portion and media share it.

GL and IMHO

I hope they bring back Captevate one day but it would need a lot of money behind it to market to the global consumer.

It had great potential.

Stock market participants seem to have talked themselves into gloomy future for the company.
Hence a low share price and lack of buying interest.

Makes for an interesting bet that they are wrong 😁

the video player is extremely interesting with regard to rights management and putting appropriate advertising against ads

that in itself should be worth a fortune

i do hope they are going to exploit the opportunity properly

magisto/captevate is a great example of FBT losing an great commercial opportunity

NickB,

As i see it.

Share price 6.25p

60% lost on my original investment.

Eva and captevate mothballed and majisto (full featured captevate) sold for $200 MILLION.

CEO does not understand the product .

Revenue static.

Potential still good but not being realised.

Time running out.

As I see it

Trump is the President of the 🇺🇸

Ian is the CEO of Blackbird

Stephen has created a Magic internet video Codec

We voted to leave the E.U.

Future looks good😀

Nope, a happy call for the education of the CEO.

6.25p, I want IM to sell FBT for $200 million but he doesn't seem capable.

Maybe the CEO of Magisto Dr. Oren Boiman (a boffin) is free now after the sale of his company and will join FBT?

No one in the video industry knows anything about how Video Codecs really work other than the basics.

They can give you the specs

What people want to know is what can this Codec choice do for me

You / we all know what’s magic about Blackbird and when and why it should be used.

Unhappy call for the impeachment of Ian as CEO 😮
