KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd may make an offer for all or part of the London Stock Exchange-listed Equatorial Palm Oil, which has some 169,000-hectare concession in West Africa.

A deal will allow KLK to venture into Africa, a continent where rivals such as Sime Darby and Golden Agri-Resources have gained palm oil concessions of 220,000ha and 350,000ha, respectively.

When you consider that EPO was once 30p +, this offer is far short of anything like a reasonable offer.
KLK have vast experience in plantations and the funding to inject into EPO.

I have spoken to my financial advisor, and their take on this is
DONT ACCEPT THE OFFER.

Selftrade need a rocket up them.

They have just written to me to say that as my PAL shares are held in their nominee account, and as the 5p offer is A RECOMMENDED OFFER, (it isn't, it's a mandatory offer under AIM rules but NOT recommended by the PAL board) then they will vote in favour of accepting the 5p UNLESS I write and tell them not to do so!

Honestly.

Yes hence they are trying to get as many punters to jump ship so they get company on the cheap It's been a very canny play by KLK as the expectation of many was way higher offer than this derisory offerIf I was a holder I would not accept hell u can sell at that now anyway

as soon as they get 75% of shares on the open market there is nothing you can do,they will de-list from the aim market,do you want to risk your holding for a possible 1p extra if that. they are under no obligation to offer you anything after that.

so if you held a considerable amount of shares at 6.3p Benson - what at this exact point would you do ? hold ?

Now that the funding is there for the company, the situation is now much safer fromsome months ago as in running out of cash...The offer at 5p is purely to comply with takeover rules and in light of the above I would not expect more than 2-5% acceptance.

sorry Benson - just to clarify when you say you expect a very low acceptance by that you mean you don't think the deal will be accepted ? and so to hold on to what I have at present.

Thank you very much for your help.

KLK have to go through the procedure of making a formal offer for the company as they now have gone through 50% ownership. The offer is set at the price at which they bought in. There is no need to accept the offer, it is purely procedure for when a change of control takes place to allow other shareholders to be offered the same terms i.e. 5p.
I would expect a very low acceptance.
