Thanks gozo - looks like interesting situation developing as we head towards end of Jan then.

Canadians seem very keen, 20m traded today. May see some consolidation of platinum price around 1500-1510 next few days. Still bottom line profits should be increasing very nicely.

More good news.

NEW YORK - ETF Securities said that a financial firm has bought 100 000 shares of its proposed first-ever US platinum exchange-traded fund (ETF) and delivery is scheduled by the end of the week.

The initial purchaser was Susquehanna Capital Group, which is also the lead market maker, ETF Securities USA said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Dec. 31.

The purchase took place Dec. 30 with delivery expected about Jan. 8, according to the filing.

Susquehanna also bought 100 000 shares in ETF's U.S. palladium ETF, the filing said.

ETF Securities USA is wholly owned by London-based ETF Securities Ltd.

On Dec. 22, the SEC approved a proposed rule change to list and trade shares of the Platinum and Palladium Trusts proposed by London-based ETF Securities.

Analysts anticipated a rush of investment dollars into the platinum and palladium markets if the SEC gives its final nod.

UK car production rising for 1st time in ages and Platinum trend looking good, about to breach 1500 shortly (demand rising including jewellry, industrial, auto sectors and looking strong Vs pressure on Gold) Gold /Platinum ratio reducing down to 0.75.

The case to get the other mines into production gets better everyday. Would like to see a positive update from the company to get this really moving.....

Reminder

Top of the list for any Chinese acquisitor would be a company not requiring an injection of cash to top up finances and which had significant production, with more projects on the way to boost the production profile in the years ahead. Eastern Platinum fits the bill with the cash in its kitty, its other two projects, which are also in the Bushveld Complex, and its resource estimate. It also has one of the lowest costs of production in the PGM sector, a proven management team and a chief executive who knows his way around the capital markets of the world when project funding is the name of the game. There are few such opportunities around and if a bid materialised it would be interesting to monitor the relationship between Chinese management and South African mining unions.

I think we may well see some 10 to 20% investment to get the other projects into production quicker as demand rises and price continues to increase.

I think the results look very positive, if you can turn a profit in this climate, looks very promising going forward.

Eastplats earned $1,84-million in the third quarter, compared with a $10,89-million loss ago, and also an improvement from a $317 000 profit reported for the second quarter.

"We are pleased to report three consecutive quarters of profit in 2009 during what has been a very difficult period for the sector that has seen the global economic downturn, exchange rate and metal price volatility, and an industrial strike action at Crocodile River mine and throughout South Africa," CEO Ian Rozier said.

, if it proves true, won't do the PGM sector any harm - but especially those who mine UG2.
