The co. obviously that at this price they are extremely undervalued and that it makes more sense to buy up their own stock.Their ROI will be greater than if they had bought more acquisitions, although we can be fairly certain that they have plenty firepower left over for that too.

very interesting to see all these transactions in own shares of late. A new invitation to join the latest SAYE share scheme is due to go out in the next 2 - 3 weeks, Buying there own seems seems to be stopping the price following most others at the mo. If it had taken a severe dive, like some, this years buy in price would have been an absolute blinder. Will be even more interesting to see if the "propping up" continues after the buy in price is released!.......watch this space!

Management have also indicated they intend to run the rule over Tarmac. As you say LBO,they constantly buy other companies(30 transactions in the last results). However they've never taken over a company this big and they don't overpay.I feel a pun coming on:a rock solid company!

Most impressive,PBT of 27% is remarkable when you consider that was achieved in the face of the slowing US residential market.Well diversified business that grows by leaps,year-in,year-out.

Trouble is the building trade shares could be hit for around 3 years. Yet this one looks sound - and cheapish.

Irish Times:

Davy values CRH at €37.50 per share

Davy Stockbrokers has set a €37.50 a share price target for building materials group CRH, arguing that its European markets are showing a strong recovery.

"Cement demand remains strong in all of CRH's markets, with most facilities operating at full capacity," said analysts Barry Dixon and Robert Gardiner. They added that operating margins from its European products division could boost group earnings by 4 per cent.
