hmmm...optimism...that could be one way to look at it. Just a shame it's never reflected in the share price. Nevertheless, I thank you for the acknowledgement, diesel too.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

..."How far is 'Republic' seen?
We broadcast in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Russia, the Balkans and Australia, the UK and Germany. We are working on the US, China and Japan. It's incredible. It's been very well-received and it's exciting for us. I think these countries respond to the exoticness of the show and the humor."...

I haven't seen it advertised in Germany but I'll have a look thru the TVguide, see if I can spot it somewhere.

I see the Gemini awards ceremony is broadcast tonight where 'Flashpoint' and 'The Tudors', both of which Phase4 distribute in Canada as well as 'Republic of Doyle' are all nominated in the 'Best Dramatic Series' category alongside 'Durham County' and 'Stargate Universe'.

Allan Hawco (Republic of Doyle) is also nominated in the 'Best Performance by an Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role' category and according to 'The Globe and Mail' might win.

Lynda Boyd (Republc of Doyle) is nominated in the same category but for 'Best Performance by an Actress' ofcourse.

'Flashpoint', 'The Tudors', 'Republic of Doyle' and 'The Border' are also nominated in a number of the other categories in one capacity or another.
They will surely walk away with some of the awards which should be a bonus selling point for P4 and CFL with their respective products.

'Riese' making forward strides:

iPhone RPG Card Game Based on the Webseries "Riese: Kingdom Falling" Released Featuring Voice of Felicia Day

..." Working with GFG on the Riese: Battle for Eleysia game has furthered our goal of being truly transmedia," says series co-creator Kaleena Kiff. "The story we're telling with the live action series is the basis for the game, while the game itself has allowed us to create a larger world, full of depth and new characters and inventions that will eventually become a part of the live action series. With the two fueling one another, we feel like we're just beginning to scratch the surface of the expanding stories we'll soon be able to tell with both the series and the game."...

Although not CFL specific, I felt the following article was quite interesting.

As you all might recall CFL stated that they were looking to the UK for acquisitions. The excerpt below is taken from the 'Divisional Review' statement for the TV division (FY10 results RNS 21/7/10).

"... For that reason we have stepped up our pursuit of major drama from the UK and other English-speaking territories..."

Although they were probably talking TV specific, I'm sure they're keeping an open mind re the film division also. After all, since that statement, they've 'announced' the 3 South-west (Bristol) based films that are in pre-production as well as the acquisition of 'Whites' and the 'Thorne' dramas.

With Warner Bros. setting up a base in the UK, maybe there'll be better quality films to be had that CFI can sell outside the UK, if not in the UK and thus creating a greater link with the big boys...a step up, I would think.

The other interesting line in the article other than the headline I felt, was that a record amount (#936m) had been invested in the UK film industry in the first 9 mths of 2010 and that Elstree Studios 'has been forced to turn away business'. An improving environment...at least in the UK...it would seem.

All pure speculation on my part but as always IMHO.

cardif...thanks again for your updates...as regards the share price we seem to be at a crossroads, the small improvement that dragged us off the floor would seem to have run out of steam and the fear must be that we are heading back down to sub 1p levels. But...I am becoming increasingly confident that the company is ticking along quite well at the moment and with no silly slips this could be an excellent buying time. To stick my neck out I think we will see a small rise soon and with some news from the AFM (but probably not directly from CFL)we will get to new highs for the year.

Phase 4 Picks Up North American Rights to 'Breaking Point'
4:43 PM 11/5/2010 by Gregg Kilday

..."Phase 4 is firmly committed to getting involved as early as possible with films we believe are compatible to our business model," Phase 4 president and CEO Berry Meyerowitz said. "We are always on the lookout for high-quality films, and acquiring Breaking Point early on in the process gives us another avenue to secure the best possible content."...

Significant...yes I thought so too but I didn't want to sound too positive because it might have given cause for a further sell !!!

What I was still a little concerned about was that it hadn't been sold to the US yet but then I came across the following. I can't remember if it was posted at the time:

CAA Selling 'Ironclad' For North America
By TIM ADLER in London | Sunday, 10 October 2010 07:15 UK
Tags: Agents, CAA, ContentFilm International, Ironclad, Ironclad CAA, Ironclad Rights Sales, James Purefoy, Movies, Paul Giamatti

EXCLUSIVE: I'm told the agency has come on board following a cast and crew screening yesterday afternoon at London's Empire Leicester Square cinema. ContentFilm International is handling overseas rights on the $25 million medieval action thriller, starring Paul Giamatti and James Purefoy. People at the screening tell me that Ironclad – which has been pitched as a 13th-century Saving Private Ryan – is pretty bloody stuff. It's already sold to 15 territories including Square One Entertainment in Germany and DeAPlaneta for Spain.

The CAA from what I can make out and I stand to be corrected is the 'Creative Artists Agency'. The website sadly only provides addresses but here's the wiki link.

Cardif...thats a significant deal for CFL, looks like it may appear on mass round the country, unusual for a CFL film, that could represent healthy revenues, but will we be told, I think not...

maybe a significant piece of news is that today we have a 4th MM. all 4 MM's are at 1.25 - 1.75.

Cant think why a MM would waste the effort in paperwork and effort in adding CFL unless they saw some increase in volume going forward....

Nice to see CFL are still associated with Pure Grass Films after their year-long first look deal apparently expired last May. A 'Shadow Line' feature film was always meant to be under way.

Although a c21media subscribered article, it's fortunately currently available on the Pure Grass Films website. This article follows an earlier article (13/10) where PGFilms signed a deal with publishing group 'Hodder & Stoughton'.

I notice the 'Thorne' duo are now listed under both Fireworks and CFI on the website.

A few more titles added to Fireworks:

2. The Captive - IFC/Sundance Collection

3. Dead and Lonely - IFC/Sundance Collection

4. Yung Yeti - IFC/Sundance Collection

5. Ice Road Terror

6. Commander Jim

7. Killer Mountain

8. Seduced by Lies

1. - 4. were announced back in September

5. - 8. are all produced by Jeff Schenck. I know I've seen the name somewhere before but I can't seem to remember where.
