IC covers results briefly and explains why S&P was hit by low gilt yields, CA not: the former had to increase reserves owing to a high proportion of guaranteed annuities.

Also:

Analysts at Canaccord Genuity are forecasting net income of £29.8m for the current year, and embedded value of 349p at year end (from £25.6m and 330p in 2014).

And conclusion:

Shares in Chesnara are up from our buy tip (318p, 2 January 2014) and trade bang on forecast embedded value. With strong cash generation supporting generous dividends, we still see value here. Buy.

Perhaps it is a ploy to encourage a minute examination of the whole text? Or maybe it was written by the marketing department.

But why is it buried so deep? For a lot of punters it's probably the next they/we/I look for after the obvious P&L stuff. Or is it just me?

jonwig - I'm not actually that sad. If you use the Find tool (CTRL + F) in Firefox to search for a word, the result tells you the number of occurrences + which occurrence you are on as you advance through the document. I am quite impressed though that I have actually managed to get some technology to work for me rather than against me!

jonwig - yes. they do bury the dividend timetable info quite deep into the report. useless stat of the day: there are 68 references to the term 'dividend' in the results. the dividend timetable doesn't show up until the 64th occasion of the term 'dividend'.

the high number of references to the term 'dividend' shows how important it is to their ongoing strategy + is reassuring imo.

obviously got far too much time on my hands. i'll get my coat now! :o)

The "nasty drop in profits" is a purely technical issue brought about by persistently low bond yields. Nothing to do with management or strategy.
Just why this has impacted the S&P segment but not CA isn't explained.

The key number for CSN is the EEV which is now 330p. The fact that the share price is 350p will put a brake on performance.

You need to go right to the end to get dividend dates ...

11.98p, xd 9 April, pay 22 May.

Sold mine this morning. I saw the nasty drop in profits. Hopefully I haven't made a mistake. 7% over 12 months is ok. Good luck to all holders.

LG - Yes, had spotted the ascending triangle/wedge but have to admit that its significance was lost on me. My appreciation of charts/formations is fairly limited so thanks for explaining. If it does break through + motor, my next problem will be at what point I should start taking some profit. Have sizeable holding yielding 9.5%+ on cost so am loathe to lose the income but the capital gain is also getting to a level that I cannot ignore. A nice probem to have, i suppose? :o)

speedsgh - take a look at the three year chart for CSN. We have a superb ascending triangle formation - very bullish. Once we breakout through 360 it should really motor. Let's hope that the upcoming results o indeed provide the catalyst.

Results a week today. Keeps banging its head against 360p. Could do with breaking decisively through it. Will results provide the catalyst? Find out soon enough, i suppose.

Yes, I think we can safely put it down to a rogue auction outcome. I would be very annoyed if my shares had been sold for such a low figure. On the other hand, the buyers must be smiling this weekend.

It's those damn uncrossing trades:

Expect the b-o to be 354-357 or so first thing Monday morning.

Hargreaves Lansdwon is down atm, so I cannot be sure of the exact chronology, but I already held some FLG and added as above - I now own none having sold @405p - so could have done a bit better.

I wouldn't mind but I'm not currently a holder - having sold in October to add to FLG. I've been waiting to buy back for a couple of weeks hoping for a fall back to @330p!

C'est la vie!

2nd line added above.

Please adjust your rising trend line a bit Skinny if you con't mind. According to your chart we will need to wait until September / October for any breakout, once the pattern winds itself into the corner. I have seen this happen before, and once the breakout comes, it is very powerful. For some reason I just don't see it happening here, but an earlier breakout toward the 400 level looks highly possible, as in next month as we run in towards finals.
