no you wont get a running commentary....definitely not, unless there is a problem

Exxon will release the result once the hole is complete

this is the fun thing about this....will be a big bang...BOOM you are a millionaire sir (or not!)

(and perhaps a few people leaking results in advance!?!?!?)

you need to have our chips on this one because soon the croupier will say "no more bets please'...as the ball goes round and slows down.

get in and strap in!

Seismic interpretation by FWI looks mighty impressive in that brief resume of the science. It certainly puts Exxon at an advantage IF the technology is proven, unfortunately it doesn't give any examples of where they have been successful in using it. Nevertheless they must feel confident on the COS by virtue of not farming out any of their %.

Lets hope their confidence is rewarded with a massive find.

Good stuff Mr Key.

------------------------------------------
THOB,

That is technical clap trap to the majority of investors in the oil patch.

Below is what we are all invested here for....

I would gladly take the net P90 estimated reserve of 305Mmbbls let alone the P10 figure of 720Mmbbls.

These figures originate from Exxon Mobil and are verifed by DeGoyler & MacNaughton not your usual tin pot AIM tiddler wanna be !!!

COPL finds itself in an envious position partnered with Exxon Mobil which have chosen to not diversify the risk reward on the Mesurado 1 well by farming out. They have retained 83% virtually unheard of especially in the current downturn in the entire oil patch.

Any commercial find will be monumental for COPL given the current mcap of £65m & share count of 609m...

I have a valuation that was carried out on another company's asset further down the coast, which will need adjusting here & there, if the bit hits the pay the potential here will be many multiples of the current mcap.

Can someone confirm that we are drilling to 5535m depth? If so what is the rate of drill progress per day estimated to be? I am trying to more accurately estimate (assuming no technical/mechanical/weather delays) when we will reach TD?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adorling,

TVD is 5353m as per the well design see below.

Assuming no delays, I understand 30-40 days should see Mesurado - 1 reach TVD.

"Mesurado-1 is a high impact well which could be potentially transformational for COPL," said analyst Craig Howie.Oil rig workers drilling offshoreCOPL owns a 17% stake in the Mesurado wellShore Capital analyst Craig Howie says he is highly encouraged to see the start of drilling operations for Canadian Overseas Petroleum Limited's (LON:COPL, CVE:XOP) exploration well offshore Liberia. It was confirmed on Wednesday that project operator US oil supermajor ExxonMobil began drilling the Mesurado-1 well.COPL owns a 17% stake in the exploration project, though its share of drilling costs are covered by Exxon. In a note, Howie said: "Mesurado-1 is a high impact well which could be potentially transformational for COPL, in our opinion."Given the strong subsurface understanding and presence of a lucrative multi-well carry (targeting an extensive prospect inventory), we believe that the risks lie firmly on the upside for the company."Shore Capital's valuation, risked net asset value, amounts to 21p per share which is more than double the current price of 9.99p.Mesurado-1 is located some 50 miles from the Liberian coast and is in 2,500 metres of water. The target has been estimated to host 1.78bn to 4.2bn of gross prospective recoverable oil resources, which would equate to between 305mln and 720mln barrels net for COPL's interest in the project. The project is on trend with exploration successes in neighbouring countries such as Sierra Leone, Senegal, Cote D'Ivoire and Ghana.
