Looks like a reverse head and shoulders formation is beginning to develop on the chart. Could be that we are now through the worst although I'd like to see a £40 plus closure as a confidence booster!

Australia wins cigarette packet case at WTO

The tobacco industry suffered a setback in attempts to halt the rising tide of regulation after the World Trade Organisation upheld a landmark ruling on plain tobacco packaging. The panel yesterday ruled that the law in Australia contributed to improving public health by reducing the use and exposure to tobacco products. Health experts said that the ruling was likely to lead to plain packaging being introduced around the world.

'Tokyo passes anti-smoking law'

Jun. 28, 2018 6:03 AM E

Tokyo has passed an ordinance that essentially bans smoking inside 84% of the city's bars and restaurants, which would come into force in April 2020, ahead of the Summer Olympic Games.

While the regulations may dent overall tobacco demand, over the medium term they may boost the market for heat-not-burn tobacco products, which would still be permitted in eating and drinking outlets.

Market report:

Tobacco giants British American Tobacco and Imperial Brands were leading the modest rebound in London after Liberum eased investors’ fears over tightening regulation in the US.

The market is bracing for the Food and Drug Administration to cap nicotine levels sooner than it can “reasonably deliver” and new regulation to help Americans break the habit is more likely to be implemented in 2023, it argued to boost US-exposed BAT 88p to £37.79 and its “top pick” Imperial Brands 84p to £27.05.

BATS is oversold, fuelled by a weak sterling and FDA fears. Market is irrational, if your horizon is 10 years plus, load up on BATS now.

Whats happening with BATS. I just can't understand this drop. Are short sellers pushing it down? It goes ExD soon and yield is fantastic. About ready to bail out. Any advise much appreciated.
