28/1/2006 08:20 | Hello Arja - have been away for a few days hence the silence . I can not see them de-listing as they are so well funded now that the cost of keeping the listing is relatively immaterial. I understand your point about RTM but I think that was more about saving funds on a tight budget and what appears to have been a fall out with the companys UK broker . Hardly surprising considering the company was and still appears to be run very crookedly . The one thing BGF could quite easily do is spend a bit more effort publicising themselves in the UK , they seem to court the Australian Press quite nicely but appear to have done little over here which I find frustrating . The UK press are unlikely to seek them out independantly as they are not a home grown company , but I'm sure a good PR campaign in the this part of the world wouldn't go a miss . | 12vic
26/1/2006 08:59 | holding at about $562 at present . Hope uptrend has not stalled but I think not ! Not a trade in BGF on Uk market yesterdat and nothing today . There is a small possibility that they will eventually delist it here as happened with RTM and resultant hassle of transferring stock to OZ register . Takes ages and Uk shareholders could not sell for months!! So be careful as holding a dual listed AIM stock can be very dangerous! | arja
25/1/2006 16:54 | Glad you pointed that out Arja - saves me a trip to the ASX to check announcements . It can't be too long before we hit $600 gold . | 12vic
25/1/2006 14:49 | gold solidly up today . Hope it holds until Friday and BGf reacts ! No trading in OZ tomorrow - Australia Day | arja
21/1/2006 19:30 | Interesting read Jed Tinsel , I'm certainly expecting gold to near $600 sometime in the first half 2006 . Just waiting on a positive early production assessment from our friends in Ballarat - hopefully some time before the end of the month ! | 12vic

20/1/2006 14:15 | Hi 12vic, It was disappointing to see the Aussie gold stocks fail to even hold on to their fairly small gains but at least finished slightly up on day ! As, you say BGF only moved up a cent . I had hoped to make quite a lot as I held warrants in LHG and OXR and should have got out with good profit at opening .I have to type in my full name, phone number etc. etc. on every online trade with Comsec and that is ridiculous ( sedurity obsession!! ). Better in Uk from that viewpoint ! I must change brokers but never got around to it ! Gold up strongly again today i see after falling back during the night ! Yes, with deal4free( CMC) you have to download software to get their Marketmaker platform which sits as an icon on your desktop. But I think they are best on balance even though they try ripoff tactics at times ! Have a nice weekend and hopefully the gold stocks will perform well on Monday . At least we have mild and sunny weather today unlike Ukraine and Russia . I may go to kiev soon and hope it is still not -25 when I get there !! well done with your currency trade . | arja
20/1/2006 07:45 | Bgf looking more solid at 0.41 . Had a look at deal4free seems to be a much more sophisticated site than tradindex ! | 12vic
19/1/2006 22:44 | Hopefully will re-establish itself above 0.40 . Was at home again today so placed a small currency spread on £/$ quite successful . Dependant on opening tommorrow I made take another look at gold , but won't be near a screen for most of the morning so will probably pass . I'm not really in a position to rate tradindex as I've only ever used the one site to spread bet so can't make comparisons - my basic impression is that its a little bit awkward and live price updates seem slow , I never quite get the price I expect when I deal . Will take a look at deal4free tonight . | 12vic
19/1/2006 18:28 | looking good for BGF tonight with gold price rocketing today to $558 as I type. Hope you do well with it . If MM spread was about 1/4p , I would have bought today in Uk market I think ! | arja
19/1/2006 09:02 | I notice BGF were up to 40 last night and slight recovery in gold price. Good luck with them . I only hold LHG warrants in gold but down a bit at present . Gold still in uptrend I think . deal4free spread is .7 for gold so Tradinex is better . But we need a smaller spread of say , .2 or .3 to make it profitable to trade gold. taking a position might be better if absolutely confident of tread and ride out the dips. But one never knows in markets !! How do you find Tradinex. Good service ? These thinly traded metal stocks like KAZ and VED have lovely uptrending charts . But need to be watched every minute as dangerous . trend reversal could easily happen quickly . | arja
18/1/2006 16:02 | Encouraging to see a large buy this morning at the lowered ask , 500,000 volume . Have been at home so took the chance to place spread bet long on gold futures (feb) managed to close it at small profit but nothing really to get excited about . I used the Tradindex site where the spread .6 but I'm not sure these are the best company to use - any recommendations ? | 12vic
18/1/2006 11:06 | Yes, a real bloodbath last night in OZ and I even my oils went down with the market . hard to find a winner in OZ last night - a sea of RED! I can not pick gold movement today so staying out ! Chart is not telling me much although SEEMS to be bottoming in 543- 545 region . I was disappointed it went through 550 as i thought it would get support at that level . Charts are not an exact science but next best thing to a chrystal ball most of the time ! ( smile !) I did exit my remaining BGf at 40 . | arja
18/1/2006 09:04 | Arja - Bit of a price drop last night - are you long on gold today ? | 12vic
17/1/2006 21:11 | Yes it did hit 560.5 after bottoming at about $551.5 but sadly it has reversed and now I notice it is back to 554.5 !! Yes, I made a little it on upward movement but only from $555 to $558.5 - I could not pick it well but happy to make a bit . The big problem is that the spread is quite wide at .7 and currencies have smaller spread ! maybe better to take a position in gold and stick with it but that can be dangerous . As you rightly say , it then has to be monitored which means watching it for too long - eyes get dry at times !! Let's hope our BGF holds up tonight but I may sell my remaining holding at opening and try to re-enter sometime . I have oil warrants on OZ market and must focus on them tonight if I can keep eyes open !! | arja
17/1/2006 16:43 | Have thought of Spread Betting gold but unfortunately I'm not always in a position to monitor the price so this would expose me to too much risk if things suddenly turned against me . I could use a stop loss but am also wary of being closed out too early on quick movement - if I had the time I would have pursued this method of ' investing ' more closely . Gold appears to have made up its losses - did you place an upward bet ? | 12vic
17/1/2006 12:32 | wow- quite a tumble in gold price today . Still,it does not seem to be relevant to BGf ! Gold still in uptrend though and I doubt it will fall below about $550 level . Could be nice opportunity to buy through spread betting ! | arja
16/1/2006 13:52 | At least gold up again today . hope it helps tonight . A mate of mine in W.A emailed me to say how much he likes BGF ! | arja
16/1/2006 08:41 | Yes , it started well last night on ASX but seems to have settled at this level . I think plenty of people are watching this one and waiting for the next update before buying in . Everything is in place to launch the share , gold price , management , fundamentals etc ... now its just a case of waiting for good production confirmation ( the last piece of the jigsaw ? ) | 12vic
16/1/2006 07:34 | still at 41 cents which is disappointing! Maybe patience needed . | arja
15/1/2006 21:27 | Sorry my mistake! The one I saw was oxus gold ( OXS) allthough that has quite an interesting chart but hard to pick next move . Maybe from 71 to 80 if gold price stays strong ?! | arja
15/1/2006 21:17 | thanks for the info on the fundamentals . looks promising. I am kicking myself for failing to notice that Oxiana gold is listed in Uk with fairly small spread . OXR in OZ has nice looking chart and occasionally MM may be sleepy in morning and not update his quotes ! I must cheque to see if any others. I think that Oxiana may move more in % terms than BGF . It has been consolidating for a few days but MAY take off today . It keeps having sudden bursts ! | arja
13/1/2006 20:04 | Must admit had not noticed that last trade , even so strange decision to sell as you point out . With gold now appearing to want to settle above $550 it seems an appropriate time to consider highlighting a few forward looking figures . These are general figures based primarily on the RBC capital research document released in early 2005 , an old document but the only material available that gives actual approximations of cash cost and total cost per ounce from Ballarat East . The original figures were published in Australian Dollars but for ease I have used US Dollars based on todays exchange rates . RBC quote a cash cost per ounce for BGF at $206 ( Compare this with Bendigo at $285 ). The total cost per ounce is given as $257 , so at the current gold price using these figures we can estimate a profit of $300 an ounce ! It would seem likely that initial cost per ounce will probably be higher at the start of the production phase , even so taking the above figures as an average over the proposed 20 year mine period and applying todays gold price returns staggering figures . Consider a production rate of 200,000 ounces a year . Pure generalisations and specifically focused on tHe Ballarat East project only , but still worth keeping in mind . | 12vic |
