AIm always has big volume on either side and I tend to prefer companies with fewer shares in issue although they need to be watched more closely and more dangerous I guess. BGF plodded on last night and gold price still holding at just over $600. it would be great if it can break the 50 cents resistance level !

Yes would be good . Aimr dropped a tad in oz last night , so upward movement from BGF always welcome , 50 cents may be there for the taking !

hi 12vic,
I just looked at the silver chart - WOW! Rising almost exponentially and big move up today . Well done. thanks for offer but I think I prefer spreadbet , perhaps April or may futures . I amy ask you for details later . I agree that a pullback is due and I will wait . Gold quite volatile and I just closed out a day trade spreadbet for about £250 profit on a £5 bet - gold moved up about $6 from mid afternoon but i hate the .8 spread which can make it difficult to trade . Hope it holds at near $600 for opening of Oz market to perhaps help our BGF !!

Arja ,
If you're looking at entering the silver market via a paper trade or spreadbet , I'm not sure if now is a good time to come in as a new investor . If you are considering physical appropriation then there are safer more efficient profit making opportunities available .I'd be more than happy to email you with further details if your prepared to leave an email address .

BGF now looking ready for a breakout - just need some positive news to move it on , I think quarterly must be due soon .

12vic,
very interesting . I also notice that it is possible through spreadbet. Nice to see BGf hold up well in OZ although gold price recovered to $594.5 in night . looking good !

Arja re silver it is actually very easy to get hold of physical bullion silver both in the UK and from overseas , I have invested in this form for some 5 years now . I have two main types of investment , one relates to pure bullion purchase and the other Antique silver purchase , both are based on very simple formula and have proved low risk yet extremely successful .

yes, AIM resources chart in OZ looks promising after the pullback and then consolidation for 6 days. Turned up again on bigger volume on Friday. Good luck with it and I am tempted to go for it but fully invested in OZ at present! closed at 13 cents and looks as if it will head for the earlier peak of 15 .

12vic,
i noticed that silver had a strong chart some time ago and thought about a spreadbet but did not bother. Must be much higher now !! How did you manage to buy the physical ? would have thought it was difficult for a private investor.
i notice we slavishly followed wall street down today - nice to be yank not having to worrry about other markets ! Russian market finished near it's high for day so seemed to ignore US markets . a bit surprisinging .

Good question P_S but answer I do not know . Last volume in Oz 28 million must be one of the strongest trading days for a while . I noticed two trades took place at 48 for 11mil / 5mil respectively - my feeling is a steady price build up from this point . However as Arja points out drop in gold price may have short term kick on Monday .

Aimr also very strong in last nights trading , I'm certain any succesful funding announcement will move this share strongly upwards .

Arja will look at JRS over weekend , unfortunately my investment funds are low at moment as I have been ploughing money into physical silver for some time and near exhausted the coffers - started doing this in 2001 when silver circa $4.30 has proved very good investment so far !

hi 12vic ,
yes, looking much better and keeps edging up in OZ. But gold price down about $8 today so it may have a bad monday ! Off topic, a Russian investment trust has a lovely uptrending chart as Russian index heading to it's earlier peak after a correction. Russian market can be volatile but I think it could take off exponentially if it breaks the previous peak of about 1535 . You may like to check it out ( code JRS ) and see what you think . I bought some at 4.34.
have a good weekend

pathetic comment by Bgf's MD to ingratiate himself with UK investors to help any future rights issue ! His comment was nonsense of course as many Uk investors in OZ gold mining specs will testify .
Polish_ student - hope you got the chart I sent you . I use Comsec online broker but only possible to do this if OZ resident or have account in name of family member ( my daughter is at University in w. Australia and i return home in next year or so ).

Rush is on again for gold mining industry
Andrew Leach, Mail on Sunday
5 March 2006

WHEN gold medals are hung around the necks of athletes at the Commonwealth Games, they will symbolise a revival in one of the oldest industries in the state of Victoria.

The gold for the medals was mined in Ballarat, the city west of Melbourne that was the centre of the gold rush in the 1850s. Prospectors discovered the world's largest deposit of alluvial gold and mined more than £4bn worth (at current values) in a few years after the initial finds.

At one time, Victoria produced 40% of the world's gold. Ballarat developed into a boom city and the gold provided the wealth on which the state developed before the deposits became exhausted and production dwindled to almost nothing.

Now, 150 years on, there is something of a gold rush feel about the region again as new mining techniques, plus a consolidation of the hundreds of historic prospecting licences, mean that extracting the precious metal has become economic once more.

The number of local people employed in mining has more than doubled from 4,000 in 1999 to 8,800 today andms of pounds of investment has flooded into the area.

A company at the forefront is Ballarat Goldfields, which is listed on the UK's Alternative Investment Market. Richard Laufmann, Ballarat's managing director,
says Britain is an ideal place to raise cash for the mining project. 'There is a real understanding of the sector in London,' he says.

The company began exploring the region in 1984. Using sophisticated 3-D computer modelling, combined with information from old records, it has established several potential mining locations. It has focused attention on its Ballarat East site and just before Christmas poured the first gold extracted from the mine into bars.

Laufmann says: 'We are now moving from the exploration phase to the mining phase.'
The company hopes to eventually extract 200,000 ounces of gold a year. Laufmann says the current record price of gold is a fillip, but not essential for the project.

Hello ,
Arja good to hear you are back from Vilnius - should think it was very cold out there ! Also looks like BGF has steadied itself and found a fairer price after recent decline - I still continue to have faith that this one will climb and not too long now before $600 gold as I had thought might happen earlier in the year .

polish_student - Aimr is now in a similar situation to BGF about 18 months ago but definately a riskier play as it is based on African Continent , however feasability successfully completed on Perkoa project which once again like BGF's main project offers a long mine life . The absolute key to Aimr at the moment is a solid funding agreement allowing plant building etc - there will be plenty of interested investors in this zinc project so sound terms should be possible to achieve . Once funding is in place Aimr will move but until this is done it must remain speculative !
