15/7/2016 15:40 | "Let's remember that the UK is already independent. In fact, it's what many other countries celebrate independence from!" - John Oliver | vike1
15/7/2016 15:35 | BREXIT means BREXIT but what is BREXIT? Personally, I can't see it happening (whatever it is). Its such a bad idea, such a huge mistake and far too complex. Get used to it, head-in-the clouds (and conned) Leavers. Bless you all | skinwalker
15/7/2016 15:12 | "I don't think a responsible PM (like May) will trigger art 50 until she knows what it means for the economy and for the Union." Edgar, I have no real interest in politics but on what basis are you judging May's performance, given that you've declared her to be 'responsible'? Other than the extraordinarily strange appointment of BJ as Foreign Minister what are you basing your opinion of her on? | kevjones2
15/7/2016 14:58 | Lets put some context on this. Both Davis and May have said that Britain needs to agree it's negotiating strategy prior to triggering article 50 and that there will be no rush. Davis only today has suggested around the year end is probably right meaning Britain will be independent on New Years day 2019. Then you have to consider the probability that if the EU digs its heels in whilst negotiating the Government will look to repeal the 1972 Act, this would take Britain out of the EU with immediate effect and article 50 / negotiated withdrawal becomes history. Failure to negotiate a trade deal with Britain will cost German car makers 2 Billions pounds per annum, probably more as they will also lose sales if the prices go up as a result. The EU will have to accept that Britain WILL HAVE control of it's borders AND have access to the single market. If not the net impact hurts the EU very badly due to the balance of trade. | ngms27
15/7/2016 14:35 | Slepy In the last few minutes May has said she is not triggering Article 50. The EU will negotiate pre-Article 50 because if they don't there is no way forward. They are desperate for speed. In fact, there are already negotiations happening. I don't think a responsible PM (like May) will trigger art 50 until she knows what it means for the economy and for the Union. (BTW I am not holding out for a referendum, Parliament will do). | edgar222
15/7/2016 14:11 | Edgar but how do you see this even happening? Negotiations will not start before the article 50 is triggered. After that there is no way back. So another referendum will not happen. | slepy
15/7/2016 13:46 | Lastthrow Bless you. Do you think that Leave would have accepted a 52/48 outcome against them? (Farage already on record as saying he would not). We have years of this ahead of us as the negotiations unfold. And if they result in a deal as bad as I think its going to be there will have to be another vote (Parliament or second referendum). Mainstream politicians already saying it. So buckle up for the ride, old stick. Edgar PS. Very interesting but very wrong stab at my occupation. Fascinating that you and your ilk need to put everyone into a box. If attaching the label "lefty" helps you ignore the other side's arguments then go for it. | edgar222
15/7/2016 12:23 | LT, would agree re reverting to matters AEX but, at the same time, would miss all the whingeing and whining. Nearly as enjoyable as what was formerly Labour's core Northen working class vote at last waving two fingers at the London gang who for a century had mocked, exploited and inflicted on them their own so metropolitan prejudices like diversity, one worldism and political correctness. | warbaby43
15/7/2016 11:43 | Edgar - link doesn't work | bunbooster2
15/7/2016 10:21 | Careful Edgar! The Dorset cuckoo will filter YOU next. Petulant bad loser indeed! | skinwalker
15/7/2016 09:25 | Edgar Before this Brexit thing you always came over as a pretty decent and fair guy but your attitude since has shown you up to be a bit of a petulant bad loser who seems to rubbish anyone who genuinely thought deeply before voting as they did. I have to say that my guess is that you come from the liberal left (public servant of some description probably!) who will never be happy until they have spent everyone elses' cash and reduced as all to penury, whilst espousing views that their basic constituency never shared as witnessed by the Brexit vote. For God's sake, you lost .... GET OVER IT and accept the result like a man! ....... and let's get back to using this Board for matters-Aminex eh? LT | last throw
15/7/2016 08:02 | edgar, you have missed the boat. They are barring anyone voting who wasn't a member in January, never mind the fact he wont win anyway. | ngms27

14/7/2016 20:23 | Labour leader candidate Owen Smith just promised a second referendum when the terms of the deal are known. So obviously needs a vote of some description. That's worth £25 of my money to join Labour and vote for him. | edgar222
14/7/2016 19:47 | Torygraph poll, should Boris Johnson be foreign secretary, 60% up until now, says yes. its a funny old world isn't it. | blackgold00
14/7/2016 16:49 | This may actually help inform the debate: | warbaby43

14/7/2016 09:59 | Why given they are incorporated in the Eurozone not the UK | ngms27
14/7/2016 09:36 | And the good news of course is that when Aminex does eventually start getting paid it will be in dollars so Aminex will get the benefit of the change in the exchange rate !!! | theunluckyone
14/7/2016 08:41 | ngms27 - don't normally agree with you but you're spot on here! LT | last throw
14/7/2016 08:30 | I think it's absolutely inspired. Davies and Boris to lead our Brexit negotiations is the perfect choice. We will get access to a single market or alternatively do a deal with Germany and France that allows free trade and we will get control of our borders. The fact is the EU needs us more than we need them, just look at the EU budget and the balance of trade. Britain has a very very strong hand in this brave new World and Davies will ensure we play it through. Totally inspired Mrs May. | ngms27 |
