02/3/2007 11:24 | Weighing the risk element of SBRY not getting a bid and the share price responding negatively if that occurred along with the drop in ADN`s price, i have sold SBRY with a small profit after costs and rebought into ADN at £1.925 with a gain of 1502 shares.I feel more comfortable in here. lol | focus1800

17/2/2007 11:21 | I suspect that being again linked as an aquisitor, would-be buyers of ADN will want to wait until they can see if the F&C takeover story in fact comes to anything. - No harm in all this sort of speculation. | hectorp

16/2/2007 15:30 | Here is the FT comment..... "Aberdeen shares hit five-year high over reports of acquisition moves By Neil Hume and Robert Orr Published: February 16 2007 02:00 | Last updated: February 16 2007 02:00 Aberdeen Asset Management finished at a five-year high yesterday on rumours that the fund manager is on the look-out for another acquisition. Its shares gained 3.6 per cent to 208¾p in heavy volume on talk that it could bid for troubled rival F&C Asset Management, up 2.9 per cent to 167¾p, or the institutional arm of Schroders, off 0.5 per cent to £11.51. Aberdeen has won plaudits for its successful integration of Deutsche Asset Management's UK business, which it acquired in 2005. As such, sector watchers believe shareholders would back another a deal. F&C is seen as a good fit for Aberdeen. Not only would its property and fixed income businesses be complementary but F&C's UK and European operations would help reduce Aberdeen's exposure to emerging markets and the Far East." ........The acquiring company's share price invariably falls when there is rumour of a large acquisition. It seems in this case, however, investors are comfortable with Martin Gilbert's dealmaking expertise and there is a good appetite for a repeat exercise. | iroll
16/2/2007 14:39 | Its also a key story on the back page of todays FT. The daily share summary discussion leads with ADN.. may bid for F&C Managment. ' having digested Deutsche, shareholders may welcome such a move' - words are to that effect, not verbatim, as I read it over a coffee in the supermarket. | hectorp
