About the Author.
Born in Fulham in 1925, went to elementary school then passed the 11 plus exam, & qualified for High school but settled for Central School. With the outbreak of war in 1939, the school was evacuated, but the author stayed in London with his parents. As there were no schools open he started work at 13.
In 1943 he was 17 he went to Acton Town hall & volunteered for the navy. After a short time he volunteered for active service & transferred to Combined Operations. He then changed his Blue jumper to khaki. Married at the end of the war & later had four children. Was demobbed in late 1946 & started work as an electrician, later worked on shift in the underground electrical substations. Was selected for a two-year course to train as a Combustion Engineer in Power Stations (i.e. Buster). Later moved to the Headquarters of the Generating Board. Worked in all varieties of Engineering & retired at the age of 55. After Divorce in 1980 he moved to the seaside at Romney Marsh (a very isolated area) with the sea at the front door & the marsh at the back.
The reason for writing was to leave some feedback for his children that his life was not completely wasted.
Interests include, collecting postal history documentation about the last 100 yrs of Peace & War & ‘Prisoner of War Camp’ correspondence, also lecturing on this subject. Collecting china & buying many items at auction. Visiting various places abroad to see how the other half live. Playing the stock-market (in fact anything to keep ones mind active). Living a stress less life with his ladylove Daphne.
