05/9/2012 15:23 | Good news with Grand river iron sands a potential game winner | kayaks
11/7/2012 13:51 | Nice to know this board is still alive...just ! Isn't this now essentially a bet on moving their ferrous (South Africa) and non ferrous (Canada, Liberia, Turkey) assets nearer to confirmation or production, with the coal production being used to keep the lights on and pay a modest divi ? Re coal demand, Brazil's imports of met coal expected to increase from 12/13m tonnes now to 21 m by 2020...and Brazil (shortly to replace Italy as world's 7th largest economy) is Petmin's largest export market. | lobby ludd
05/7/2012 21:00 | They do now have permission from the Competition Commission to sell SamQuarz which will ease capital requirements. But I am out because recession has cut demand for coking coal and shale gas is replacing thermal coal in the USA which will drive down world prices. | hieronymous1
05/7/2012 18:45 | Still no news | kayaks
22/3/2012 12:06 | Thanks for that they seemed to have missed out NVTA in Mozambique mining Tantalum not strictly a RE but quite important, although beset by problems and harshly depleted share value, it is already operating and one I had shares in a year ago but sold at a fair profit. Worth keeping an eye on though. | kayaks
22/3/2012 11:04 | This is a story about Rare Earth Elements that has some relevant comments on black economic empowerment and the South African Mining Industry: | hieronymous1
21/3/2012 20:56 | kayaks Thanks. A lot of interesting stuff on that site. The Zuma story is a reason for caution about South African investments. I limit the percentage in my portfolio. But I believe that civilisation will win in that country after a bumpy ride. | hieronymous1
21/3/2012 19:10 | Mr. Bosch sorry for that posted links that failed to work finally found one that did the initial bit is about the Toulouse shooting but at the bottom is a gem with Jacob Zuma singing a few months ago about killing the boers (sic), the plural of boer is actually boere. as you say the ANC is bent on killing the goose. | kayaks
21/3/2012 14:08 | I would have expected more of a lift from the deal with North Atlantic Iron Corp. Iron goes with coal like weddings and confetti. It diversifies into a more mining friendly, politically stable region. Perhaps it is wrong to think of South Africa as mining unfriendly but there are influential rabble rousers intent on killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. Kayaks - what is with the full stops and blank spaces? | hieronymous1

14/11/2011 13:26 | Another sa coal company operating under the radar which may well rival CZA in the future that had risen from the ashes like a phoenix after the disaster that was SCR and its foray into Tibet. dyor THE MARKET HAS NOT WOKEN UP TO UNV's COKING COAL POTENTIAL | kayaks
14/11/2011 13:26 | does anyone know or can hazard a guess why the directors are buying shares and exercising options at this stage, perhaps some forthcoming news at the AGM? | kayaks
14/11/2011 11:42 | Surprise, surprise frx may well be worth a punt for the long term. Monday , 14 Nov 2011 Ferrex plc Ferrex plc, the AIM quoted iron ore and manganese development company focused in Africa, announces that it has acquired an 85% interest in Société Générale de Mine ('SGM'), a Togolese company that owns the Exploration Permit over the Nayega manganese deposit ('Nayega') in northern Togo. | kayaks |
