Allenby Research up their forecast to 26.1p for EPS this year still a long way up to the 40p and over days of recent years and if that happens then this will be a 500p stock again

CCT should keep doing buybacks at these levels

Long term chart looks excellent here now and this is back on the recovery curve. If this gets back to 40p of EPS with that balance sheet then this is going much higher

And yes, just checked the last 6 half year periods & average distribution costs vs sales were 5%, H123 was 10%, so H123 had one off COSTS.

"The Group reported profit before tax and highlighted items of £2.1m (HY 2023: £0.5m; FY 2023: £5.2m), the increase in profit being mainly due to reduced selling and distribution costs. This primarily related to the logistics costs associated with the Group's Scandinavian business being lower, as inventory was significantly reduced from last year, and increased influencer sales in our UK domestic market producing a lower advertising to sales ratio."

Doesn't look one off to me...

I've only had a cursory look at the results but it looks like they might be making a decent recovery. Most of it seems to be from a lowering of distribution costs though. Has anyone got any idea why this might be?

Hi Pireric

I've just checked my figures after your post and I think I may have made a mistake about last year. Having looked again fcf appears to track much closer to reported net profit each year which is reassuring and what I'd expect anyway.

That said I've decided to stick with my investment for now, last year appears to have been particularly poor for well known reasons and generally they seem to be capable of making a net profit of around £10m a year so cheap if you believe they are going to recover.

ALS - how did you get to £8m of FCF?

I've just taken a look at the most recent results and have decided these are really very good value and generate an awful lot of cash in even the poor years. As far as I can see this last year they generated around £8m of free cash flow by my preferred measure against a market cap of ~£50m. In better years they have generated far more than this. The dividend yield is nearly 7% and the balance sheet is very strong.

They've played the interest rate cycle very shrewdly, borrowing when money is cheap and paying it back when it is not.

The board seem to have listened to investor concerns about their remuneration and this year have taken a far more reasonable wage.

All in all I reckon this is a great opportunity at this price.

Are you talking about the ADVFN board or the Board of Directors? Have they moderated their annual pay recently in line with the performance of the company or do they remain the most over-paid small cap directors in the UK?

Is this board dead?
I have been a very long term investor but CCT appears to be drifting no where.
Any thoughts?

Hi All,
Very quiet board.
I am hoping that CCT will provide a positive update in the near future.
Does any one have any views of where CCT will go.

Hasbro is to cut about 20 per cent of its workforce as the toymaker struggles with weaker sales in the critical holiday shopping period.

How sure are we that the financial situation is going to improve? Because CCT can ill-afford another year like last year. If you look at the cashflow statement the coffers will be empty at the end of the next financial year if matters don´t improve. In the circumstances, paying a dividendof 9p is either reckless or an indication of enormous confidence.

Balanced statement despite the terrible first half. They are profitable, have cash and seem to have a strategy for dealing with the difficult market. I wonder whether the retirement of Richard King will hit the shares? I sat next to him at a lunch a few years ago - clearly highly entrepreneurial but pragmatic.

The management have sizeable stakes in the company too, which I see as a good thing

I've been thinking about an investment too but I may wait for this year's AR to see whether the BOD get huge bonuses despite the average performance.

thanks for pointing that out ALS.

It's not just the basic BOD salaries of £1.3m it's the performance bonus of £2m on top that seems overly generous.

That's from the 2022 AR.

I've been looking at CCT as it looks to be in pretty decent value territory and has a decent library of content to fall back on. Haven't really looked far enough yet but it's on the watchlist.
