I have been kicking the tyres on a few. Some seem to have reasonable exposure to power prices. JLEN NAV seems fairly sensitive to power prices, so any reduction in discount rates, in the short term, could be countered with falls driven by the power price forward curve.

It does hedge 2-3 years out (like NESF) so the dividend should be protected.

A lot of these renewable type trusts still look bombed out, and close to all time lows, despite the strength in the FTSE. eg.

JLEN 8.4% yield
ROOF 8% yield
AERS 8% yield
GSEO 7.5% yield but almost no gearing.

Power price moving higher should help. Resource nationalism back en vogue all of a sudden

Yes agreed, there is increasingly becoming little to no point in these assets remaining within listed vehicles if this persists. Sales elsewhere achieving nav or close but share prices don't move.

Many thanks for your somewhat comforting comments.I certainly hope that they take the necessary steps to keep the show on the road. They normally announce their forecast dividend yield for the upcoming year around May, pleased that I received the expected dividend last week.I would be interested, from your comments to know where I might achieve a 6.6% yield to replace my current income from JLEN in the event of a windup. In the meantime I will hope to navigate these choppy waters and that the " show remains firmly on the road "Regards.

I have never contemplated JLEN winding up or for that matter winding down.I have a very large holding here and as an Expat retiree rely heavily on the dividendof nearly 8% per annum. In fact I receive almost the same amount from the dividend as I do from my frozen UKstate pension.I am both surprised and horrified to read these comments about the Company, which I understand is managed by Foresight group PLC who actively manage more than 30 projects across the renewables sector.I do therefore wonder if I am missing or have misunderstood something here?

I would certainly prefer for JLEN to continue. Bought for income and not too bothered about the share price swings other than how it effects my compounding.
I already have two investments in wind down and it is just a long drawn out process.

Indeed, a very interesting article, and thanks for sharing. It leaves me wondering, probably along with everyone else holding JLEN, what exactly would be the catalyst to reverse the decline in the share price?

I prefer to also look at the dividend cover - I believe JLEN was 1.5x covered last time I looked, while GSF was uncovered. If you factor this in then JLEN arguably looks cheaper on a simple cashflow yield basis. I'd also note that JLEN (and its peers) provide a growing, inflation linked yield so wouldn't necessarily do a direct comparison with a 4% fixed interest rate with no inflation protection.

JLEN share price will go nowhere till that NAV improves.

This is my worst performer in my portfolio in 2021
