Just a reminder of the workflow and metadata concept:
hxxps://interact.innovateuk.org/zh/-/zoo-digital-tames-the-data-jungle

Interesting that ZOO's technology may very well be covered by patent.
They also hold over 20 other patents in the digital media sphere:

Plus, one can get a feel for how this collaboration works.
It would appear that one person, which could be the client themselves, "creates the subtitle" by just putting the source language into the system at the point where they want it to appear. And then the translator logs in and just translates the source language into a target language.
All held as metadata.
Quite a neat way of streamlining the collaborative workflow.
Should really keep the cost of translation down for the client.
Gives the client a lot of choice: get someone to do the whole lot or just the translation or do it all themselves or do some languages themselves and commission ZOO to get translation done into more esoteric languages etc etc.
It won't be long before ZOO own this segment if the software is good.
We also know that the ticker counts all the "created subtitles", ie not necessarily yet translated. It may be that ZOO isn't doing all the translation on these created subtitles. So, I don't think that financial calculations based on pence per subtitle will work. What is obvious, though, is that ZOO's software is in demand and they have different possibilities for monetising it: do translation work, charge SaaS fees etc etc

I like the look of the screen shots on their new website.
It would appear that the translators perform their work via browser.
I would imagine that they are well pleased at being able to work anywhere/anytime without the need for anything other than a browser.
Looks like this is truly innovative collaboration software.

I don't think that enough emphasis has been placed on the ticker uptake. On 10th March the number was 46.6m, today it is 53.8m. Even if Zoo only get 10p per ticker (most improbable) it is a shedload of dosh. GLA

This afternoon's purchases suggest the 'cat is out of the bag'

Difficult to buy in quantity....just the start maybe.

I think there is going to be so much of that kind of news in the upcoming few years. When companies put out too many RNSs, their impact gets diluted eventually eg see 7DIG.
Of course, I have a L-T view on ZOO. If one wanted to make a quick 50% appreciation, then one would want to see an RNS stream at this point in time.
I'm just happy that I can see clearly what the company is up to and the undervaluation is quite stark imho.
One of the reasons for the low valuation is that the company has disappointed somewhat in the past, so it is understandable that they are keeping a lid on expectations.
The turnaround does look to be very real on this occasion, though.

I think if Zoo had RNS'sd the Apple deal we would be in the 20's by now. Any ideas why they haven't done this? I have seen other companies putting out RNS's about things of a much more trivial nature.

Problem buying shares at the moment. Tried to get 50k at 12p and have had to settle for 25k at 12.5p

There may be a problem lurking but I suspect not.The co clearly has best insight . The fact the convertible loan extended and increased by both Green and an institution indicates what they know. The price of 48p is I suspect a conservative view of where they see this going.Refreshing position for them to take because few others would have known or complained if it had been say20p.They must have seen a very good future. I think we can now see it materialising .Worst case takeover in my view.

Agreed about the share price. Either the bargain of the decade or there is a let-down lurking. Anyway, I've filled up as many saddles as I can and am ready for a long ride. I can only see them building more and more on top of this new platform.
What I also like is the pace at which they are getting this software out of the door. It is actually quite good fun following their progress.

Bak agreed. Apple the bbc and 5 of the top 6 Hollywood studios is not a bad client list. Confirms technology is state of the art and desired.Agree also it is the software where they will make the money. Zoo studio is or appears to be where it's at.Cannot understand share price. Market cap appears to low to me!!!

They're also attending a major show this week. The ticker speedo usually moves up another notch after each of these shows.

New website looks impressive. Zoo studio now unveiled.Trading update in a few days . Looking good. The market cap seems low for a company that appears to be delivering. Their appears to be a clear plan and from the take up I suspect it is succeeding .

N.B. Now that customers have an "arrange-it-yourself" platform solution (ZOOStudio), ZOO should be able to charge more for the actual subtitling. They won't lose customers completely by raising fees. They can just point them to ZOOStudio instead, let them arrange their own subtitling and charge a platform fee instead.
ZOO have now got themselves into the position where the customers are really going to be ZOO customers because they want the workflow platform and not just for a commodity-like service like subtitling where there is little value-added.

I think that might be a bit aggressive and end in disappointment.
As I understood it, the ticker advances when material has been uploaded for translation. ZOO then arrange for translation and will end up billing the customer some time later. This is why the ticker does occasionally go backwards. We have already been told that one customer had temporary problems, which will affect H2 revenues.
As I see it, ZOOSubs is now an established line of business.
Margins are very low for ZOOSubs and they need this current level of business for it to make any meaningful financial contribution.
What is of more interest to me is comments that ZOO make about future developments.
With ZOOSubs being established, their customers being "tied in" to the ZOO "solution" (ZOO are storing all their material + subtitles), the big way forward is SaaS platform fees for the newly-announced ZOOStudio (presumably the inevitable spin-off from the BBC deal) and all the future technological add-ons and enhancements that they will be able to make to this platform, thus reeling in a larger and larger customer base involved in preparing digital material of all sorts where metadata can be applied for subsequent production rendering.
What is very encouraging is the speed at which this is all panning out.

6m a month which according to my crude model is about USD 10m in revenue per annum.
I will only be able to test the validity of my model when results are published.
I am forecasting 3.5m USD in the six months to March 31st on subtitling ( 25m subtitles)

Ticker has been averaging 5m per month for the last 4 months and has increased slightly to approx 6m the last month.
If you graph the aggregate ticker volume since inception on Sep 18 2012, you more or less get a graph of e^x! (can't be bothered to calculate what x is)

Plus it looks like the fruits of the BBC deal (ZooSTUDIO) are now available to all at a US trade show next week.
Would be the best news of all if they have got the BBC up and running already.
The Apple news fits nicely into this new platform as well.
All coming together technologically and they have a commercial head of steam.
