24/2/2015 16:47 | just trying to understand or see where ZOO fits in the media handling food chain... and whether it can be integrated in to a bigger media editting/handling system and whether I think that is a good position or not. ---- How ZOOcore fits in to the structure of handling media.....in the overall sequence between using 10 cameras to record video....and it being sent down a cable on VOD or put on a DVD.....is imo ..important. Seems like no one knows, incl me. ---- and also trying to understand the H1 results and what they really mean.... trying to see thru the co. blah blah blah is not easy. big turnover increase....but the rest of the nos. are worst than one would expect imo for such a turnover increase.... ...I'd like to try to understand the reality behind it.... will H1 profitability be better ? or will it be worse since turnover is lower ? and chance of generating cash..this year and on-going (noting that ZOO has a history of consuming more and more cash, from investors viewpoint, that doesnt attract me)..since even with very good H1 for turnover...the cash generation numbers are imo bad. ---- for most of the above pts. I have no view....just starting to try to fathom it out | abcxyz1
24/2/2015 15:09 | Bakunin thanks for your post "As I said, take a look at a collaboration platform like AlFresco and it should all be crystal clear how cloud-based collaboration software works." I can NOT see ANY similarity with ZOO or ZOOcore !!. As far as I know ZOOcore is NOT a collaboration platform such as you infer, such as Open office or Wikipedia. Where different people work for free to create something. Nothing to do with having an existing software package like ZOOcore or ZOOsub that can be accessed and USED via the internet. or maybe we are miscommunicating...n I am using ADVFN to post this....which provides some tools, msg brd, charts etc accessed via the net. but it is NOT a collaboration software. It is a shared resource or shared system. very different. users collaborate to share information and discuss things. imo in similar way to users of ZOOcore. Or am I missing the plot completely about ZOOcore/ZOOsubs !!? | abcxyz1
24/2/2015 14:58 | Where as I have been a member since Member since: 09 Jan 2004 Sorry for being negative here, I just feel ZOO are actually going to be out of pocket from this deal.... Anyone who thinks the BBC approached ZOO because they are the best is deluded to say the least..... Happy to be proven wrong. | chesty1
24/2/2015 14:56 | Bakunin thanks for your reply/info are you saying that editting 'tools' or media manipulation tools can be uploaded and used on the ZOO system ? (personally I would doubt that) at present there are MAM systems (media editting etc to make finished main video/audio files) and media archives/storeage systems......I cant see how ZOOcore interfaces with these at the moment I am guessing that finished main video/audio file would be uploaded to ZOOcore (cloud) .....subtitled...and then downloaded back to the MAM or archive ....but I dont know (the flow of things is important imo....in modern world anything that isnt sitting comfortably in the main flow or workflow....likely to get ditched/bypassed !) ---- or in real terms Pilat Media systems handle film/video media....and much higher turnover than ZOO... Can the ZOOcore system be integrated into Pilat Media software systems (as a module, they have modules that can be selected or not as wished )?? ---- I see Disney and Warner using ZOO stuff..which is good..but I dont see it turning into profits in the bottom line....difficult to see if profitability will improve (why didnt it in H1, imo the accounts dont really explain it in an understandable way, not that any excuse that makes sense to me anyway)......turnove | abcxyz1

24/2/2015 13:58 | ZOO sliding again on next to zero interest zzzzz..... Nailed on RED AGAIN I see..... Hope you mugs sold into the rise. | chesty1
24/2/2015 13:40 | "is putting the finals touches to their digital media collaboration platform" are you saying it is a MAM system ? I guess not ...or ? and hence that it can edit film files ? (similar to MSoft Moviemaker ) (I am trying to see where ZOOcore sits in the structure for making, storing and selling, streaming media to customers......so far I cant picture it) | abcxyz1
24/2/2015 13:36 | apparently media owners like BBC use things like MAM, media asset managment systems... how would ZOOcore interface with that ? added as an attachement to an existing MAM ? (if so, then ZOOcore success would depend imo on the success of the MAM they are integrated into....and who that MAM owner/designer prefers to use, no ? ) or the media file has to be extracted from an existing MAM.....sent to ZOOcore...worked on ...sent back...and re-loaded in that MAM ?? 2) a MAM system... or a streaming system... servers have media files ready to provide VOD once customers request/pay.... where would ZOOcore sit wrt that ? no connection at all ? ZOOcore used X months in advance and completed media then transferred to streaming servers ? | abcxyz1
24/2/2015 13:21 | Thanks for your post/info I'll try to digest/understand the info cheers ---- automatic translation between English dialects ....personally I cant get excited about that at all.... in the end users not willing to pay for such a service imo (color or colour....who cares.... would I pay 10% more for a DVD that the correct version for me ?. No ! but I can see that if distributing a big selling film that the one off cost is a tiny extra cost that is worth paying for them....to keep their end customers happy...) but foreign language translation/dubbing is the main mkt and maybe having got their foot in the door with the BBC maybe more BBC work will follow in future....or not ! | abcxyz1
24/2/2015 11:47 | I assume that at present there are media editting systems and media archive/library systems is ZOOcore core an extra system that sits between these ? extra is surely bad, no ? I assume it has not won any contracts for archiving/storing and is not an archive...is that correct ? | abcxyz1
24/2/2015 11:22 | Bakunin "Some countries like Italy prefer dubbing to sub-titling. ZOO has a product called ZooDubs which is part of the ZooCore-based series. All ready for integration into an all-encompassing platform." some valid pts. discussion. a) ZOOdubs/ZOOcore imho dubbing is normally done in an audio studio....with a mixing desk controlling each audio track..... where the film media digital file and audio digital is located at/in/by the mixing desk using an existing expensive system...linked to expensive audio room and expensive microphones and sound proofed room etc so if ZOOcore is in the cloud.... can existing dubbing studios with existing mixing desk and existing systems (with the media and audio located locally ) link up to use ZOOcore/ZOOdub which is based in the cloud where media/audio is located remotely...in the cloud | abcxyz1
24/2/2015 11:15 | Bakunin are you willing to put all your assets to support your claim that I am Chesty ? I am. (that I am not Chesty) and then the winner takes all Agreed ? ----- Anyone able to answer any of the questions that I posted ? or this msg. brd. just for childish interchanges and name calling ? (Bakunin) | abcxyz1
24/2/2015 10:10 | Can anyone help me with any answers to any of these questions about ZOO ? (BTW I'm not Chesty) 1) what are the fundamentals of the ZOO system for subtitles ? I struggle to understand ... surely the film or content appears on a screen....(after editing etc and sound/music addition...using software application X...before moving it to ZOO software application Z) ....and a user stops it at the right frame...and types in the subtitle text...and hits save or auto save and then goes to the right location in film to enter the next subtitle text so on till finished ... and then save the film...and register and store back ups etc. Then provide to distributors or outlets as required. I struggle to see the clever (or ZOO) part in that process. Appears like a low value process imo. 2) Is the overall global market for subtitling a juicy target for ZOO ? (I dont know....I never watch anything subtitled....so I have no idea about the mkt) 3) ZOO software system Z for adding subtitling to a film... can it also be used for doing the dubbing process....or is that a diff. system from different company ? 4) How come ZOO has been producing its software systems for X years.....and claiming they are making good progressing..every year !!..yet...as far as I can see....they just keep raising & consuming more and more cash !! (not generating it) while turnover over last few years (excluding the translation turnover) has been flattish, except for jump in turnover in last interims ( a co. needs to generate cash..and with some regularity/security. | abcxyz1 |
