I do not intend to comment too frequently on day to day share price movements, which are really quite irrelevant in the long term, as the share price will no doubt be driven by either fundamentals, or perception of growth and profits to come, or by a take-over, as is the case with most plc share investments. However, if the price drops much more, then we will be back to the same level we were at before last week's announcement of BBC Worldwide adopting Zoo's technology. I reckon Zoo are in a better place this week compared to last week, based on information publicly available.

Can anyone help me with any answers to any of these questions about ZOO ?

(BTW I'm not Chesty)

1) what are (English corrected, whoops !) the fundamentals of the ZOO system for subtitles ?

I struggle to understand ...
surely the film or content appears on a screen....(after editing etc and sound/music addition...using software application X...before moving it to ZOO software application Z) ....and a user stops it at the right frame...and types in the subtitle text...and hits save or auto save

and then goes to the right location in film to enter the next subtitle text

so on
till finished ...
and then save the film...and register and store back ups etc.

Then provide to distributors or outlets as required.

I struggle to see the clever (or ZOO) part in that process. Appears like a low value process imo.

2) Is the overall global market for subtitling a juicy target for ZOO ?

(I dont know....I never watch anything subtitled....so I have no idea about the mkt)

3) ZOO software system Z for adding subtitling to a film...
can it also be used for doing the dubbing process....or is that a diff. system from different company ?

4) How come ZOO has been producing its software systems for X years.....and claiming they are making good progressing..every year !!..yet...as far as I can see....they just keep raising & consuming more and more cash !! (not generating it) while turnover over last few years (excluding the translation turnover) has been flattish, except for jump in turnover in last interims

( a co. needs to generate cash..and with some regularity/security...imo...to support the cap. value of the co. for investors..ZOO doesnt)

5) Before they said that they were excluding turnover from translations....and were keeping out of that...
but last accounts seem to me to say that the jump in turnover is because of translation work that was subcontracted...

is the turnover jump real and beneficial....or just unimportant if it comes from low margin one off subcontracted work

I couldnt decode it all.

6) What is the model for how ZOO gets paid ?
7) what is it about the number of subtitles ?
8) Does the co. still own the USA business it bought , was it in 2007 ?
still going?, well ?

9) I cant grasp the logic for loan notes converting at such a high price relative to the share price ?
Why are the lenders so generous ?? (normally on AIM any lenders wants a lower share price than the market price, their pound of flesh...)

10) How come, with big % jump in H1 turnover..and recalling that cost base was reduced 1-2 yrs ago..that it didnt generate any CASH ?!
(is the MD just a techie gone wild.....just into products and making them better or new....with no/little interest in balancing the books or paying down debts or paying a 'D _ _ i'

Until Zoo’s announcement last week of their deal with BBC Worldwide, I had never heard of BBC Store. See the following article to see what it is about:

hxxp://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/broadcasters/bbc-worldwide-ready-to-open-store/5079527.article

It seems to me that if Apple Itunes, for example, can be successful, then given the BBC’s highly regarded reputation as a trusted brand around the world and the undoubted quality of its content, then there is likely to be a good demand for downloads (as a replacement for physical DVD purchases) on the new BBC Store, as a commercial offering to customers. This bodes well for Zoo as, if I understand it correctly, the higher the throughput of content into the system, the higher the earning potential for Zoo.

Having re-read the recent announcement a few times now, it is clear that both Zoocore and Zoosubs are to be used by BBC Worldwide. From the announcement:

…”Utilizing its next generation ZOOsubs and ZOOcore cloud-based software, ZOO will provide a centralized, searchable system to manage and repurpose all BBC subtitling and captioning assets. BBC Worldwide teams across the globe will use the system to access, repurpose and download the localized materials for local broadcast and digital distribution.”

No translation required either as, also from the announcement:

…”All subtitles and captions shown on the BBC’s four UK terrestrial channels will be added to the system shortly after broadcast. The system will automatically localize US English and Australian and New Zealand English versions, making files immediately available to download in all formats.”̷0;

Although at the moment the scope of coverage appears to be for new content, perhaps once the BBC have sorted out the rights issues mentioned in the article above, it seems that it will also be rolled out to archive material, as per the announcement:

…”BBC Worldwide intends to deploy the system more widely over time, ultimately creating a comprehensive, multi-language database containing all localized BBC Worldwide subtitle and caption assets.”…;

So perhaps other languages are not yet to be produced at all. Only UK English, American English, Australian and New Zealand. So no language translations at all yet.

The ability of the Zoo technology to do this must be very impressive and something that other suppliers are not able to do perhaps. This has brought me back to an article I read some time ago, see link below, about metadata. Stuart Green (CEO) seemed to be very excited about the discovery and commercial viability of the workflow management system:

hxxp://www.ncub.co.uk/success-stories/zoo-digital-tames-the-data-jungl.html

One day, I dare say, hardly anyone will buy a physical CD or DVD and all or most of digital content will be via downloads or streaming. Zoo seems to have adapted and designed the software to enable this to be better and more cost effectively managed by the content owners, otherwise why would they be winning the deals.

The revenues will take time to grow, but at a market cap of circa £4.0million, there is plenty of upside and less downside in the share price it seems to me. All IMHO and not investment advice.

Can't abide by conmen.....First you telling us there will be renewed interest on Monday & then your telling us you locked in some profit....Make up your mind.

Solid red nailed on here.

Without any idea on figures the market will not let it go anywhere.

Baluskin there are alot of sharks in this game I was merely trrying to protect the smaller investor. Read everything that I have posted in the past ie on anite and kerilian and zoo over the years. Over websit posts were just advice. I have invested a considerable amount in zoo over the years and ended up losing out on them. You,ll find most of it iis true.

uknighted....

Best not to ignore anyone, just read peoples views & move on, take from the posts what you want & move on...

Its best to have people posting positive & negative. Keeps ya feet on the floor & the share price not running away with itself leading to one big spike like so many including ZOO have done in the past...

Be lucky to all & posts will be edited after the weekend as I am not here to bring the thread down, just pointing out DONNY is not exactly gods gift to investing.

The Group expects full year revenues to be ahead of the prior year.
Due to a combination of seasonality of projects in the entertainment industry and disruptions within a major customer, second half year revenues are expected to be lower than first half.
Demand for the Group's subtitling software and services is strengthening both in the US and UK, evidenced by today's BBC Worldwide contract win.

Due to a combination of seasonality of projects in the entertainment industry and disruptions within a major customer.....hhhmmm do we not have tv & advertising going on through the winter periods then....

Sounds like an oil co.....due to bad weather.!

We have moved on from translations because every co can now do there own DOH we missed the boat in taking over the market for this one, now we are trying to get ahead of the game with the subtitling software & services.... We have offered the BBC a free deal to take us on board as we need to strengthen the share price before another placing.....

You wanna be just possitive & not pointing out any negativity...well here I am Mr Negative....!

Zoo's customers include APPLE, BBC, DISNEY "MOST" Hollywood studios including Sony and many more..... LOL now that is funny, and with all of the massive co's on board they are making huge profits right ?
