22/9/2005 17:15 | Still waiting for CHP RNS. z | zeppo
15/9/2005 21:00 | CHP frustrating in the wait for an RNS. z | zeppo
10/9/2005 20:00 | I'll drink a Young's to that !! | lundhousegreen
10/9/2005 11:01 | Also got some CHP. Announcement expected soon. Good luck everyone. z | zeppo
09/9/2005 11:10 | LHG Yes saw the PHP announcement. Irritating as we sold out in the Club at 317p. It could make sense as the time to sell a business is always when you are expecting EPS to slow down. Don't think that oils will disappoint in this climate. Have bought a small stake in VPC over the past couple of days. | ygor705
08/9/2005 15:08 | Ygor You mentioned PHP earlier this year. This morning's Express "share whisper" column mentions they are "in the sights of predators and moves might be afoot to take it private". ;) Bought CHP today, you convinced me a bit of oil exploration wouldn't go amiss! | lundhousegreen
08/9/2005 15:05 | What a terrific run recently. | lundhousegreen
07/9/2005 19:39 | Thanks YGOR. Yes, good luck with the writing Zeppo. By the way, bought Brakspear, and IQE. LHG | lundhousegreen
07/9/2005 18:26 | LHG......Feed this into your internet address box for an up-to-date summary on secondary oils:- Zeppo..............g | ygor705
04/9/2005 19:11 | Ygor. FT Weekend share watch: DANA PETROLEUM (merger and acquisition activity is picking up in the North Sea oil business and Dana is a likely target). | lundhousegreen
01/9/2005 17:39 | LHG Your Broker really does look after his clients; Hardys are flying at the moment. More positive than you on secondary oils (look at the earnings forecasts......they are fantastic in most cases)plus good thinking on oil suppliers. Expro International look good to me but they are not cheap. | ygor705
01/9/2005 07:28 | Ygor. Re: HDYS. I hear that our broker mopped up all the surplus stock for clients at about the 620p mark. I read an article re: secondary oils that a few of the different oil companies directors were selling off shares, so maybe only a little bit futher to go. I have recently bought Goodwin, and looking at Hunting, both suppiers to the oil industry. (Who made all the dosh in the gold rush? .... the suppliers of the equipment !!! ) Bought some MCKS also, Town Centre Sec.'s bought 950k yesterday.... interesting! Good investing! 30/8/2005 19:29 | LHG/Zeppo Sorry ..... not been paying attention. Can't advise on United Utilities I'm afraid as I do not follow it in detail. Will have a peep at Melrose. The Breweries have certainly picked up on the back of the Belhaven bid..........HDYS are back to their best and FSTA and Youngs have both perked up. Not sure about HDYS; I would take profits at his level but my Investment Club wont let me!!!! I have recently bought Tullow and Stanley Gibbons for my own account and I'm seriously considering a punt in VPC. Secondary oils are still the place to be in my opinion as many of the majors have sold off marginal fields in recent years with calculations based on US$30 per barrel economics. That now amounts to a windfall in my book. | ygor705
28/7/2005 19:20 | Three good days on the trot for YNGA. Up 50p Tues. & 50p Wed., and 25p Thurs. Hoping for consolidation here, before , hopefully, another move upwards. | lundhousegreen
26/7/2005 16:26 | Nice tick up on YNGA today, (Tues.). Maybe because the AIM market adjustments now ended. I am told that you are allowed upto one month to move stocks from ISA portfolios, and it's just one month today since Young's went onto AIM. | lundhousegreen
26/7/2005 10:43 | Z. Don't follow them, sorry.Maybe ex-div & summer lull, defensives out of favour and institutions moving back to the banking / other sector(s) ?? I.B. advised me not to buy UU. a couple of years ago. | lundhousegreen
26/7/2005 10:29 | lundhousegreen, Ygor Any idea why United Utilities continues to slide. The A shares have now been redeemed. Has this anything to do with it? Our brokers do not appear to research them. z | zeppo
26/7/2005 06:50 | Melrose resources (MRS), ygor? Got good write up at the weekend, Sun. Express.DYOR. Hope all well at SEO, Zeppo. As I understand it, Asda deal approved, & I expect others to follow. Tie up also with a packaging firm. Thought the share price would be higher than the teens , though. The Bristol Pref. looks very interesting. Getting mixed signals re: Northumberland or Bristol ordinary shares, as Ian preferred Bristol a few weeks ago and bought a lot in for clients (myself included) last week ! LHG | lundhousegreen
25/7/2005 19:58 | Interesting comments Zeppo..............d | ygor705
24/7/2005 14:12 | lundehousegreen No I did not goto the AGM. I , perhaps wrongly, took defensive measures on 7/7 - including selling Youngs and Thwaites - both at considerable gains. The knock on effect for London and tourism generally appears to be unclear to me. We have a mortgage to clear next year when the penalty period expires. I decided to become as fully solvent as possible then to re-invest as and when. I am now also needing cash to help my son to move into a better school catchment area to enable our grandchildren to attend the school of choice. Still in JHD, Hardy& Hanson, McKay Securities, SVN, ELX and a number of Prefs from our mutual brokers. Added some Northumberland Water, Ian's preference to Bristol Water currently. Ian said he might be bidding for some Bristol Water preference shares which would yeild just under 6%. It is so dry down here that I am even wondering about pressures on water companies next year - if we get another dry winter. Will OFWAT and political pressures allow them to keep increasing divis - if we end up with very limited water supplies. Next winter's weather is anybody's guess. Global warming, it has been suggested, should lead to wet winters and dry summers for Britain. It didn't happen last winter though - certainly not in the South. We have a lot tied up in the water industry: DVW, UU., NWG and BWG and I am an old worry guts. On the more positive side for us, my wife is employed by QinetiQ. The very controversial floatation of this former MOD business is aired in today's Telegraph Business section. She may gain from the small number of shares she was entitled to buy as an employee - if this flotation goes ahead. Worried about Stanelco. If they do not make positive order announcements soon then it may collapse. z | zeppo
13/7/2005 06:42 | This from Wed.'s Telegraph. A special offer from Young's - no question. You will recall Sir John Young, the octogenarian chairman of Young & Co's Brewery, likes to entertain shareholders with a variety of costumes. At yesterday's agm, however, he turned up in his more traditional white suit and Panama hat to avoid appearing frivolous after last week's attacks. It didn't stop him railing against the new licensing laws, however, which require pubs to put up notices telling customers they have reapplied for a licence and detailing the extra hours, if any, they can trade. Apparently, one local council, which Young (disappointingly) declined to name, complained the notice was the wrong shade of blue. Oddly, this was the first ever agm in Young's history at which no one asked a question - but that may have had something to do with free beer being on offer only once it had finished. | lundhousegreen
12/7/2005 11:30 | AGM statement. Did you go to the meeting Zeppo? | lundhousegreen
08/7/2005 11:52 | Well said LHG................. | ygor705 |
