21/4/2005 21:11 | lundhousesgreen Re broker: Agreed! But have you already had direct communication with ygor705 or are you simply passing on brokers recommendations yourself on this site as you have done recently? ____________________ Not a bad day all things considered. z | zeppo
21/4/2005 19:32 | Z. Re: Torotrak. Depends if there is an RNS at 7am tomorrow or in near future. If not , they may drift back over the next couple of weeks if no deal announced, but we were told to expect a bankable deal end of 2004 and maybe into 2005, so a deal long overdue. Results in May. It really is an all or nothing share ! LHG | lundhousegreen
21/4/2005 19:14 | Zeppo I think I want to protect brokers name, so WE can get the good 'uns... (including ygor705)!!!!! LHG | lundhousegreen
21/4/2005 18:12 | Thanks LHG/Zeppo. Agree with your sentiments re the market although that could change if people get the sniff of a Tory win. If things do move sideways for a while then my feelings are that you should stick with the value stocks. Agree your sentiments re oils but having had a presentation some months ago about North Sea oil production (it falls off a cliff in about 5 years time)and being a believer that every Chinaman will want a car soon I don't see oil prices weakening on anything other than a temporary basis. Oil exploration continues apace at record levels and the Big Boys will choose the easy route of acquisitions as they always do. Hence our Club is looking to be well represented in that sector. will raise Youngs again at the meeting. Personally I would switch Hardy and Hanson (which we hold) into Youngs. | ygor705
21/4/2005 17:06 | lundesgreen I just talked to our brokers. They are happy for their name to be put on threads of companies that they have been positive about. I was cautious about publicising them: a) because there is a various assortment of people reading web sites many one would not wish to waste telephone time with or to have the lines clogged by. b) for purely selfish reasons - they often buy into special situations - preference shares etc. It is disappointing when you miss out on the best of these. As I balked at this previously I will allow you ,lundesgreen, to cut the ribbon and pass on the name of our sound and sensible brokers to anyone who reads the site of one of their recommendations. z | zeppo
21/4/2005 16:38 | lundesgreen And Torotrak? Wow! What is going on. Still cheaper than when I began to monitor it. Is it worth a punt? z | zeppo
21/4/2005 16:20 | lundesgreen Brill! And Stanelco is very firm ahead of tomorrow's AGM. My other current high risk dabble is BEO, Beowulf Mining which comes onto AIM on 9th May. It is on OFEX currently where all its news bulletins can be read. z | zeppo
21/4/2005 12:49 | YNGA/N looking extremely firm today. Both up 40p at 12-50pm. | lundhousegreen
20/4/2005 20:56 | ygor705 lundhousegreen is talking sense. I think that markets are like thin ice currently. Wall St is down another 92 points as I write this posting. Safety is best and safety with income can be very comfortable. z | zeppo
20/4/2005 19:25 | IMO Young's are worth looking at as results out 26th May. Look at my post No. 83. Looks as though Guinness Peat pushing for a decision re: the land. Don't know anthing about Fuller's, although I have them on my monitor as one to watch, 900p to buy tonight. Talk of Hardys and Hansons or Belhaven as possibles on the takeover list.Don't hold oil shares, too volatile for me. You are probably right about minnows being mopped up, but which ones and when , & do you have a timescale?? I'm sticking to companies already mentioned on this board, e.g. JHD, water companies, and continue to hold YNGA. LHG | lundhousegreen
20/4/2005 14:15 | Zeppo/LHG Got an Investment Club Meeting next week. Are Youngs worth punting short term or should we try Fullers for the longer ride? Premier Oil looks interesting if you have 1/2 an hour to analyse what's going on and believe that oil minnows will get mopped up by the big boys. Use Burren Energy as a comparative yardstick. PS I support Gillingham so I understand the "Southampton" problem. | ygor705
18/4/2005 11:23 | Zeppo Added DVW this morning with some of the ESH cash, need a steady dividend that ESH will no longer be paying. At least Young's share price not moving unlike most other shares which are falling today ! (Monday) LHG | lundhousegreen
18/4/2005 10:03 | lundy Thank you - will have a look. Got back last night from a bruising weekend. The press are so rough on my team. z | zeppo
18/4/2005 07:09 | Zeppo Our mutual broker's website tips page updated. LHG | lundhousegreen
12/4/2005 19:25 | Zeppo. Enjoy the footie ! Broker mentioned Brakspear today for 1st time. Also chatted about Young's & they are positive short term. Looks like shares drifting during election, so staying on the sidelines for now. Might look again during the summer lull for long term stock. LHG | lundhousegreen
08/4/2005 19:45 | Zeppo. Sold your SEO yet? Looked good on Friday & Monday !. LHG | lundhousegreen
07/4/2005 19:20 | Zeppo. I am looking to buy Bristol also, but thought I would wait for the dust to settle in a few weeks time. Need a good dividend flow. Still holding ESH, though. Happy to add to JHD. Broker says not too much around to look at presently. Good luck to you also. LHG | lundhousegreen
07/4/2005 17:47 | lundehousegreen I hope your re-investment flourishes. A am still holding some JHD and Youngs Non-Voting long term. As I posted on the ESH site, I sold all my ESH at £5.2 - immediately buying back a few Bristol Water at £5.75 ish and Northumberland Water at £1.87 ish. I am holding the rest in cash against a Stanelco trade. After falling to less than 15p to buy earlier in the week Stanelco ended up nicely today and I hope that there is more to come. I still haven't found the funds to buy into Brakespeare or Shepherd Neame and our brokers are sending out a new list of recommendations. Can't keep up with it all. As I posted on ESH I also have to have cash ready in June to buy the second installment on United Utility A shares. Stay lucky! z | zeppo
07/4/2005 16:03 | Zeppo Good news on ESH. Advised to look at more Young's if price is right. LHG | lundhousegreen
04/4/2005 19:06 | Thanks Zeppo, also coincides with the JHD divi. !! | lundhousegreen
04/4/2005 14:42 | I used my free national phone call contract with British Gas(now subcontracted to One.Tel at £10.99 per month) to ring Young's finance director's office. Marilyn, a temp, rang me back with a date of 26th May (coincidentally my birthday) for the results. Is the three week delay on last year significant? I hope I get a nice birthday present in the announcement. z | zeppo
04/4/2005 12:51 | Lundehousegreen Thank you for the article. Finals 4th May last year. Should be interesting. Thank goodness for ESH today. My SEO have lost their sparkle why did I not get out at 18p. z | zeppo
31/3/2005 11:08 | lundehousegreen Yes glad I got out of LSE when I did. I still make stupid decisions as well. YNGA results due at the end of May. Should be interesting. z | zeppo |
