Highly encouraging news from Cameco in the last few days that they plan to buy 20-20million lbs of uranium FROM THE SPOT MARKET during 2020.

Could be extremely supportive.

I think it's referencing the news that the US has announced a $150M budget line for the purchase of US Uranium hence the rebound for US companies yesterday

What news is that? The only recent news clip I can find is this, from yesterday:

Haywood said uranium is in the early stages of a bull market due to supply constraints.

Haywood made the forecast in a research note released today.

"Previously enacted and expected major supply cuts are starting to erode global inventories with primary production now less than reactor demand," said Haywood.

Analysts said the effect of production cuts from some of the world's largest suppliers are finally being felt. Since the drop in uranium prices post Fukushima,

Haywood doesn't see an immediate turnaround. It warns that in the near-term any supply shortfalls felt by reactors will be moderated by a global inventory surplus built over the past eight years.

"But we expect prices to build steadily toward 'new supply' incentive prices in the coming years. We believe that the uranium equity universe will lead the charge higher in anticipation of higher uranium prices, as the sector offers its most compelling value proposition since pre-Fukushima."

Under its top picks, Haywood singles out NexGen and Azarga Uranium as deserving investor attention.[Kitco.]
"Just round the corner" ... a frequent refrain!

Not watching the uranium price, but that buyback not helping much so far.

They've just confirmed that they've bought 30,000 in total. Your 500,000 was at mid-price, so probably just an exchange off-market.

Share buyback programme announced......upto $2m over next 3 months.....

500k trade just gone through which probably first purchase....if so that's over 50% completed!

Share price only marginally up so therefore remains at 'material discount' to underlying nav.

More delays, more "jam tomorrow", but I'm in, even if "Yellow Cake" makes me think of yellow snow. Uranium price should rise over the timescale of my SIPP, but the longer it takes, the worse the compound returns are going to look.

Yeah people were saying this was easy money when price peaked - I sold out a long time ago. Price never lies as that is what pays (or not)

Current price is a little surprising in view of where uranium is trading.

But Kopernik Global Investors seem to think it is a good buy as they are accumulating more. At this share price then indeed it does seem a good buy. Unfortunately present share price is a bit 'nasty' for holders that bought in when it was well over 200p - perhaps best not to follow Daily Mail 'tips' :-)
