The rise on this share is supported by nothing more than hot air.

Is cold fusion the 2018 version of the engine that runs on water episode from the 1970's.

Has QE and ultra low rates propelled such frolics???

You just feel Woodford's 50mil is just not gonna get the job done yay. Even Branson has backed his fair share of duds in this field and he is a league above Woody in my view.

I get the impression, with his lowball punts on UK shed projects, Woodford is backing a bunch of C5's rather than Tesla 3's.

It looks very much 'the rise before the fall' here...

Ho Ho. Oil got it dead right. Some people can't help making fools of themselves. LOL

What about the ROCE and EPS jonwig? They're more relevant than that bilge you were talking. But not really relevant at all......

@ ltcm1 - your investor is in good company.

A private company (Commonwealth Fusion Systems) in partnership with MIT has recently announced some important developments in the field of cold fusion.

If you look at the list of investors in this venture, you'll see a few familiar names:

[No, not N W]

Now the point about this is the relative transparency of the process. Nothing about 'Industrial Heat' confers the same sense of legitimacy. For some six years it has been associated with a convicted fraudster. We have no idea of the size of the investments which lifted its share price by 375%, nor the identity of the investors involved.

Just as an aside. In theory, the valuation of a private company can be at the share price of the latest funding round. So a single, small investment in I H could be made at a 10,000% higher value than before. WPCT's nav would be marked up accordingly and earn him a performance fee. Of course, that's the stuff of fiction!

From an investor on the WIM website:

"I’m deeply troubled by this investment. I was studying for a PhD at the Cavendish lab in the university of Cambridge in Physics, after a career in the city, when the cold fusion stuff came out and the universal view from the lab was this has more to do with spiritualism and spoon bending than proper science. Speak to any UK physics professor and I would be gobsmaked if you weren’t told the same.

I have been an investor with Mr Woodford for over 25 years and still hold a decent chunk of my retirement capital in the income focus fund. I remain a supporter of his investment style and choices in income funds. However I’m afraid this was the last straw for me. As of this morning I’m out of wpct."

357% uplift??? It sounds like the people's republic of China.

I have to ask this question - Is this the actions of an embattled fund manager trying desperately to shore up his flagship Income fund???

Literal LOLs at the Woodford rampers celebrating the NAV getting back to break-even. Meanwhile share price is still 29% below the peak of August 2015, and will need to rise 72% from here by next April for Woody to earn a performance fee and start making some money from this dross.

"Celebrate good times, come on!"

Itcm1... I too a little surprised by Woodford's disposal of Lloyds. Good time to review his Income Focus accumulation after 18 months. Tonight it stands at 95.99 plus you have to factor in platform fees of 0.45% pa to the likes of Hargreaves which ordinary shares and ITs are not subject to. Thus an investment at inception stands close to a 5% loss.

He's had a lot of bad luck...the flash crashes of Provident Financial, Capita, AA and Saga to name four. Also balancing the portfolio with tobacco when BAT and Imperial have gone into a ball crunching slump. He must have had some big successes to offset these six sickeners.

Too early to say if he can't turn this around. Domestics are on the floor and they may catch up on a Brexit deal.

Woodford needs to take a stake in Tern, then the WPCT and Tern boards can merge. The combined idiocy would be awe-inspring.

The ALM results look pretty stinky.

Looks like Neil Woodford has got a few potholes in the road with this one too..

RAM it's posts like yours that makes WPCT so facinating!

It will be extremely disappointing if Woodford hasn't found a monster, would be very exiting if WPCT did take off.

Talking about statistics, one more, for what it’s worth. I met someone yesterday who chairs the investment committee of a fairly well known charity. Entirely independently, that person informed me that they had taken the decision to halve their investment in EIF. The NW issues are reaching a little further and wider than I had so far appreciated.

"Over the course of the past eighteen months, there have been developments within Industrial Heat's portfolio of technologies that have shown increasing promise. Hence, with the company raising capital from other investors to continue the path to commercialisation, the valuation of the company has been adjusted to reflect this progress. "Note: portfolio of companiesNote: capital raised from other investorsBasically , believe its an investor in a dozen companies(A clue ... look for a recent fundraising in one of thosecompanies which maybe ( circumstantial evidence 6 letters beginning with T game changing in a way which dramatically impacts rubbish ...)Could be totally wrong but there is a company with rave reviews on what it has developed.(No revenue, no sales, producing samples now going into potential production and attracting investors to finance !!) If it is this company and woodford got in at the embryonic stage a few years ago Then that is what WPCT is all aboutSome winners/ some losers but an increase from $32 mln approx to $112mln sounds pretty good to me..

Pandora likes standard deviation, especially when it reaches number three.

RAM - the Industrial Heat is interesting. I try to stay open minded but then there was that horrible situation at Northwest Biotheraputics and we have all seen The Wolf of Wall St, so who really knows what is going on over the pond???

Woody was very bullish over Prothana but ended up on the wrong end of the science behind that. Also I am not sure how much progress his air breathing rocket is making.

I'm not yet ready personally to give Woodford the benefit of the doubt but also I am not seeking to undermine those that do, as perhaps it could come good. A great buying opportunity if so and it should be noted that some big funds increased their WPCT holdings in the last few months.
