Price fall turning into a rout. Really annoying.....

Just a reminder: Even with Tier 3 shops are still open....

In a sense, Tier 3 means more shopping and less time down the pub...
Thus, potentially more work for WINs not less.

Can confirm that even at Tier 3 shut down everything re Wincanton is as is.

If the grocery business and e-fulfilment levels pick up in the roll up to christmas, as suspected, WIN could indeed prosper greatly.

The new Waitrose business was again highlighted as transformational for 2021, and beyond. Results 5th November will outline this too.dyor.

VOLVO: If Welsh experiment is a "failure" then there will be no UK wide shut down. And if Wales works then that also has some good plus sides...
So I dont think we need to worry about UK wide shut down just yet :0)

All depends on the market perception on how Wincanton will be effected by Teir 3 shut down which is surely coming to the whole of England.

Imo, most of the company will be untouched, certainly groceries, e-fulfilment etc which will indeed thrive, ie Clipper. Also stuff like Hinkley Point will just keep on rolling.

We still turned in £30-35m profit inclusive of the complete shut down, and the market cap of 250m is exceptionally low.

Wonder what the stock market would have made of this as a official announcement?

Wincanton adds over 500,000 sq ft to its property portfolio
PRESS RELEASES | 19 OCTOBER 2020

Wincanton has acquired over half a million square feet in property since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, as part of its ongoing growth strategy.

In October, Wincanton agreed a lease on a 250,000 sq.ft warehouse near Bristol to support its contract with EDF Energy’s Hinkley Point C nuclear power station project. Wincanton is the official ‘tier 1’ warehouse and transport service partner for the megaproject. Throughout the construction process, it is providing storage, handling, asset tracking and transportation for incoming materials from a global supplier base.

In July, Wincanton acquired the lease on a 155,000 sq.ft eFulfilment centre in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. This now houses operations for home furnishings brand, Loaf, and health and beauty company, Neal’s Yard Remedies. The new centre will accelerate growth for Wincanton in online home, and health and beauty eFulfilment. As part of its W2 innovation programme, the company plans to make further investments in cloud-fulfilment systems and robotics.

During the summer, Wincanton also announced the opening of a new 128,000 sq.ft distribution centre in Prologis Park, Stafford, to support growth for a key customer, Screwfix. This site will assist the major retailer of trade tools, accessories and hardware products with its plans to enhance customer proposition and continue its wider business growth. Wincanton's partnership with Screwfix was recognised at the 2020 Motor Transport Awards, winning the 'Operational Excellence Award'.

Ian Henderson, Group Property Director at Wincanton, commented:

"These latest additions to our property portfolio demonstrate our commitment to our existing customers, and also support our offer to new customers with a variety of property sizes and types across the UK and Ireland. This diverse property portfolio coupled with our industry leading expertise makes us well placed to offer tailored and dynamic support to a wide range of businesses."

Ian Keilty, Chief Operating Officer at Wincanton, said:

"The recent expansion in our property portfolio is a clear demonstration that even in the most challenging times, Wincanton has the capability to help both current and new customers in meeting their ambitions by finding the best sites in the best locations and implementing the changes to their supply chains quickly and seamlessly."

Any views on H1 numbers?, IMO underlying pre tax circa £18m to £20mRev, depends on how much they have improved margins, say from 4% to 6% would give Rev of about £330m.Also, any thoughts on how they managed to go from net debt of £10m end March to £60m net cash end Sept?.Would guess it was due to a combination of the Vat deferral (£30m), government furlough (2,500 employees) say another £30m plus some deferrals to creditors.

Looking at the trades I think this stock is poised to rise a bit....
The RSI has come down loads so does not look over bought.
If you look at the trend since July the current price looks like the bottom of a small downward cycle.
So..... taking into account the fundamentals, low PE, future prospects, and the technical analysis...

I think the stock is poised to rise a bit.

nearly all buys so far...

If WIN is bought by 3rd party I wonder what the major shareholders would consider a fair price? Or perhaps a merger via share swap?

The company is currently trading strongly, more new employees weekly, not less, it is in the right place re -pandemic, ie logistics.

Results on the 5th November with the new breakdown of sectors where we are growing.

Great under valued company.

Benn Bridge loaning stock....looking more like someone running the rule over us.....recon you could buy 500,000 shares and the share price will remain range bound here.

Could get real interesting, exciting times.

ps now the volume is up

Falling back.

Seem to be more sellers appearing on the book here of late. Approaching the bottom of the trend here or is it one of those classical unreadable WIN moves - all to be revealed shortly!

As for trades, don't forget that the "O" trades influence the "AT" trades and that a 2k sell order on the order book could be monumentally bigger underneath, even if it isn't an iceberg on the book. It is easy to look at an order book and see a few small orders and assume that abit of buying will rocket the price higher.

If you're new (clearly alot more now as per recent updates from various sharedealing/spread providers) or don't watch the order book as much, good idea to have a look at the movements on order books in more detail. By way of example, you can have a 5k LSE order on the offer and an "O" trade of 100,000 will go through at full ask and only 1000 will come off the order, leaving 4k. It helps paint a much clearer picture.

The "AT" trades can also be moved by private investors directly without it being logged as an "O" trade so it's not wholly an institutional thing. If you have a less liquid stock, it can be moved materially by a few traders (whether it holds the move is circumstance dependent), though overall it is the bigger players who materially influence prices.

Moreover, now that we live in the world of dark pools (backdoor hidden exchanges), you can never know when a seller is actually out.

Perhaps one day, someday, the sellers will be out here allowing a sustained rally.

You'd think it would be possible....right? :-)

It has always been the Algo AT trades that control the prices of SETS stocks Frustrating that a trade for £30 can sometimes knock £2m pounds off the value of a company. Value should out in the longterm though.

Parcel Shipping index data released 2 days ago.
More logistics growth and set to double over next few years.

The UK saw 57 parcels per capita compared with 48 in 2017, the highest per capita increase over the past two years.

United Kingdom parcel shipments generated $16.1 billion in revenue and reached 3.8 billion parcels, a 7 per cent increase in both parcel volume and revenue since 2018.

dplewis1: Yes - I can see its the A trades that are bombing the O trades. Lots of small investors like me like the story and the stock but someone or (group) keep hitting that A button.....

How do you get an A button? It seems the A button affects the price more than the O buttons...
Is it a premium service?
