Oh I agree, but it’s about market sentiment in relation to the smooth movement of goods from EU countries that ultimately end up in the UK supply chain that WIN does operate in.

From 240p I believe they'll get away with lower than 400p, would be a complete steal if they did.

This is what happens if the markets pigeon hole a company as a 'also ran' and dont give it a real valuation....someone like Cinven step in then the stale old shareholders say yes please and walk away with 400p a share....and in a few short years Wincanton is a run away sucess and relisted on the stockmarket at £1 billion plus

e-fulfilment is a relatively new word, it's only going to take off massively over the coming years. Win is in the perfect place so I hope it can avoid being taken out yet.

Clipper sails to £500m target price
Rumours abound that one of the bidders eyeing Clipper Logistics is weighing a £5.50-a-share offer, valuing the online fulfilment business at more than £500million.

Last week, it was reported that private equity firms Cinven and CVC Capital Partners had been evaluating Clipper Logistics with a view to making an offer for the Leeds-based company which started in 1992 with just three people and a driver. Now it has 8,000 employees at 43 distribution centres with a fleet of more than 470 vehicles.

The interest comes after the chairman and founder, Steve Parkin, teamed up with Sun Capital to take the company private earlier this year.

Talks with Sun Capital broke down and the buy-out shop backed out of a deal.

I agree, Wincanton is a much better target. All the attention on Clipper then pounce on Win.

Celeritas, yes if you've been around the markets long enough, you notice these things.

It was only when the press said the US hedge funds fancied a piece of Clipper Logistics, then the read across to Wincanton is natural, half price to Clipper, double the turnover and profits, massive potential to move further into e-fulfilment and returns etc.

mike, get in quick, really feel somthing is going to happen here.

There was large buying/selling at 240p last week. No more stock available to buy in volume.

Last week WIN had a record amount of new full time jobs to fill, its V busy. Good time for busy employers, plenty of new staff available.

I agree Volvo, there's no reason to keep it held here other than takeover fixing. I've seen this happen with so many stocks, the price is simply held until you see an rns. 240 is a bit low for talks mind, over 300p then start would be better.
