17/8/2020 15:45 | Back above 200p now, with the bid price at 198.5p. I can see this surging one of these days. EDIT - back down again! | rivaldo
17/8/2020 13:02 | Those pesky sellers have taken abit longer than expected to clear out, but it's looking more interesting here. This could be the significant move we're all waiting on. The chart looks very bullish with the price at 206. Clearly nothing wrong with a steady move higher, but hell the people demand fireworks at times too! And then.... Someone came in and smashed the bid back down from 203 to 196. Whoever you are....Bad! Bad! | sphere25
17/8/2020 12:54 | can you buy three next time | mikedon1946
17/8/2020 12:46 | that was me doing some buying. Ask moved up after my 2 buy. I hope my timing is ok. | nimbo1
17/8/2020 12:44 | This and wgb moving after seller clearing .Sicknote | s34icknote
17/8/2020 12:29 | Buying at 206p now.... | rivaldo
17/8/2020 09:49 | ...just mopping up some weaker holders, then over 200p and onto 250p imo. | volvo
17/8/2020 08:13 | Looks like getting back over 2.00 !Sicknote | s34icknote

14/8/2020 18:10 | Its obvious that WIN is playing catch up. As I have stated the directors are as troubled by the disconnect in share price as we are....why is Clipper Plc so much better than us, as we feel we have them beat in every department. Still the market can be slow to catch on, but catch on it always does eventually. Liberium is saying 300p plus | volvo
14/8/2020 16:19 | More 250 k trades reported from earlier Sicknote | s34icknote
14/8/2020 15:45 | netcurtains, if heaven forbid WIN did make a foray into 'last mile' deliveries I'm sure they know the model that works best is the 'owner driver' model, which puts the risks squarely on the shoulders of the drivers. Many businesses now use this model Parcel Force being a well known example. But in my view it's simply not worth the candle, far too much hassle for precious little reward, unless perhaps done on a contract basis for a third party where all cost are thoroughly covered. I agree a non WIN brand would be needed. at-van-ta :¬) | lefrene
14/8/2020 15:25 | totally agree with you lefrene - they dont want to dilute their brand. If they do go down path of bike and van drivers I would expect them to come up with new brand just for that market segment - perhaps with upmarket name like "Jeeves"... Or something.. | netcurtains
14/8/2020 15:02 | netcurtains, WIN have been around for so long that if they thought the van delivery segment was worth getting involved in, they would have done it ages ago. I supplied all categories of driver through an agency I set up, after about 18 months I decided it was only worth employing Class 1 drivers, the other categories just took up too much of my time, for less reward. At the time I looked into a couple of van based specialist distribution service ideas, but my experience with the van drivers I was hiring out, led me to not pursue the ideas. | lefrene
14/8/2020 12:41 | The bid price is now up nicely to 197p. Looking good. | rivaldo
14/8/2020 12:01 | I dont see wincanton competing with a man on his bike (Just Eat/ Deliveroo). Can you imagine a great big HGV trailer reversing into a cul-de-sac to deliver one Big Mac... | netcurtains
14/8/2020 11:51 | This sort of thing can happen too. Your big 'friendly' client decides they can do without you. Obviously Win with decades of experience will be aware of this stuff. It would be interesting to know just how much the supermarkets spend on their liveried deliveries. ie is it a loss leader, but considered worth the cost to maintain market share? | lefrene
14/8/2020 11:45 | Ocado make losses (not that losses means anything - so do netflix) | netcurtains
14/8/2020 11:22 | The 'last mile' is the most expensive mile, but with low barriers to entry it's a crowded place on very thin margins. Lots of vans, lots of employee's = lots of problems, a market best avoided in my view. Yes agreed it is different from the type of contract Wincanton take on, not the eBay type work, the regular work for top customers | mikedon1946
14/8/2020 10:28 | The 'last mile' is the most expensive mile, but with low barriers to entry it's a crowded place on very thin margins. Lots of vans, lots of employee's = lots of problems, a market best avoided in my view. | lefrene
14/8/2020 10:07 | Thanks Volvo I was under impression win are pushing for more retail delivers And two man delivers .Think win need to move up!Sicknote | s34icknote
14/8/2020 09:39 | Put quite simply the markets recognise that internet shopping is here to stay and logistics will play a major part, even bigger now with this virus. It fancies Clipper more than Wincanton. But surely by its sheer size Wincanton should at least have a similar valuation which the broker forecasts suggest at 300p. | volvo
14/8/2020 09:29 | If a small company has tightly held shares then the price can be any price those shareholders want (within reason). So it depends on how tightly held clippers share base is. | netcurtains |
