Wasn’t expecting that this morning, might well be hitting my target earlier than planned. Very pleased I didn’t sell out at 41p, patience is being rewarded.

As an aside, I reluctantly admit to not being aware of Inspired Education before today. Having read a little about them this morning and what they are trying to do with the Kings College Online model, I personally think it is fantastic and see it becoming more and more mainstream in this country for a vast variety of reasons.

I have no doubt Wey would have been worth more than the 47.5p offered today with further development and investment 2 - 3 years down the road, however given the relatively limited breadth of business skills within the current board, particularly against that within Inspired, it is clear to me that todays announcement is of benefit to UK online learning as a whole, and 47.5p is more than a fair return for Wey shareholders today.

Nobody on this thread predicted Bidco, although we've speculated about takeover approaches. Still only 2.4% of my SIPP after today's rise is my only complaint.
Where to reinvest ?

Yes excellent news. Wey obviously growing strongly now with 4000 students. Bought some more by chance this morning on the recent drop at 32.7. Must have been some manipulation I'd have thought

Hmmm. Nice to be right for once but significantly less than the 65-70p I was hoping for. I guess the >53% "irrevocable" acceptance level mentioned means the option of a counter-bid is off the table. I had been hoping a couple companies would be interested and bid each other up.

Commiserations to the holder who sold 69.4k shares at 32.2p just two hours before the announcement was made.

RECOMMENDED CASH ACQUISITION

INSPIRED EDUCATION ONLINE LIMITED



(an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Inspired Education Holdings Limited ("Inspired"))



to be effected by means of a Scheme of Arrangement under Part 26 of the Companies Act 2006

Summary

The boards of Inspired Education Online Limited ("Bidco") (the "Bidco Board" or the "Bidco Directors") and Wey Education plc ("Wey Education") (the "Wey Education Board" or the "Wey Education Directors") are pleased to announce that they have reached agreement on the terms of a recommended cash acquisition by Bidco, to acquire the entire issued and to be issued ordinary share capital of Wey Education (the "Acquisition"). The Acquisition is intended to be effected by means of a court-sanctioned scheme of arrangement between Wey Education and the Wey Education Shareholders under Part 26 of the Companies Act (the "Scheme") (or, if Bidco elects, with the consent of the Panel, by way of a Takeover Offer).

Under the terms of the Acquisition, which is subject to the Conditions and further terms set out in Appendix 1 to this Announcement, and to the full terms and conditions to be set out in the Scheme Document in due course, Wey Education Shareholders will be entitled to receive:

for each Wey Education Share held 47.5 pence in cash

The Acquisition values the ordinary share capital of Wey Education at approximately £70.4 million on a fully diluted basis.

Due to the relative lack of information flow it is difficult to assess the progress of WEY. My impression is that it is distinctly slower than I had originally assumed given the impetus one might have expected from the covid crisis. Insofar as that may be due to the company's preference to build a long term sustainable business rather than just cobble together a large scale emergency package that may be a creditable path to follow.

It does, however give cause to moderate one's expectations.

Good timing Zulu and Razor. Very good reasoning Zulu, shows how a keen eye can reap rewards. I’m fully loaded in WEY and not to bothered with the fluctuations, looking for 50p+ and preferably 60p.

Yeah I noticed that large buy today. We have had weeks of Chucky sells about the 34p - 34.5p now and the share price has flat lined. Either all these sells have been wrapped up as this buy or we have some great news coming our way. I am starting to loose patient with Wey but I don’t see how they cannot be making a lot of money at the moment and surely we will be back in the 40s soon

Just broken my own golden rule (only buy on definite news) and topped up another 10,000 at 35.44p. Speculative / risky but a 325k buy this pm following 794k at 35p on 3rd March (mid-price but looks like a buy) followed by 200k at 35.4p the same day makes me think something's brewing.
