14/4/2022 13:09 | It's quite obvious that any drinking money that people have left in their pocket will be spent in spoons. Must have been over a 100 customers on tuesday in spoons. Next door two .Not sure their much higher price strategy was working lol. | gozzie2
14/4/2022 09:41 | I feel the test for the hospitality sector, particularly Wetherspoons will be in a month or two, once customers have had their first bills since the price cap was lifted and how much money those on the tightest budgets are left with.I find it strange that JDW's share price has taken a hit so much when often in times of crisis, it's the budget retailers who people turn to. | harveyspeed
11/4/2022 14:10 | Spoons full Stalybridge No customers lost here so far . | gozzie2

07/4/2022 10:10 | Hi, I was a share holder until recently. Sold out at a loss unfortunately. I visited Weatherspoons in Chatham for some dinner and, to be honest, the food has gone down hill from my last visit to a Weatherspoons many months back. The pizza had very thin toppings. Not a great experience and the prices have shot up on the starters. The place was mostly empty. Sad situation for what I always saw as a great value and better quality place to drink and eat. Don't think i'll be re-investing but feel for shareholders and I hope it turns around soon. Directors have a good reputation and covid has killed off the profits of this company. Just my personal thoughts and experience. | spig69
07/4/2022 10:05 | They are probably being prudent where they shut down Pubs where leases have run out or costs have risen too high. They are still opening Pubs too, most Pubs in London are at least double the price Spoons charges. It's not unusual to pay £10-£15 for a large short and mixer compared to around a Fiver or less in a Spoons. | isis
06/4/2022 17:49 | Don't bother phoning an ambulance Eh??Covids "over"What a country. hTTps://news.sky.com | gozzie2
06/4/2022 13:17 | Now nobody will test as you have to pay for themI've got 8 boxes if anyone wants to pay me 160 quid for them. You really think this is not going to be a problem again for hospitals and business. Good luck with that .Responding to the findings, Dr Layla McCay, director of policy at the NHS Confederation, said: "Nearly 20,000 people are now in hospital with COVID in England and the NHS, and its exhausted staff are once again really struggling to cope with increasing admissions and bed occupancy."NHS leaders and their teams are increasing their COVID services and reopening coronavirus wards, but the government must take heed, combined with chronic staff shortages, and a waiting list backlog that now tops 6.1 million, we really need a realistic conversation about the current situation in the health service." | gozzie2
06/4/2022 13:06 | 373 dead with covid yesterdayOK "covid " is "over "It's stopped 3 mates going to the pub for a month recently All I'm saying is, it is still having an affect on hospitality . | gozzie2
06/4/2022 12:53 | Where does it mention "covid"? | guitarhaggis
06/4/2022 11:27 | Thought this "covid" was over Eh????What a country??Six hospitals tell public to avoid A&E amid 12-hour waitsSix hospitals have issued a joint warning for people to stay away from emergency departments except for in "genuine, life-threatening situations".The announcement was made after a surge in attendances left some patients were waiting for up to 12 hours.Hospital trusts across West Yorkshire and Harrogate in North Yorkshire - an area covering more than 2.5 million people - said that due to current pressures they were forced to prioritise patients presenting with acute illness or injuries. Dr Andrew Lockey, emergency medicine consultant with Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, said: "It's really important that people only come to an accident and emergency department if they really need to."Our hospitals are extremely busy, and people are having to wait a long time to be seen."Over the past two weeks we've faced huge challenges with the sharp uplift in the number of people attending accident and emergency. "This places additional pressure on our teams who are responsible for treating patients with serious and life-threatening conditions."The clinical director of a hospital in Lancashire previously said patients were regularly waiting more than two days for a bed and staff were "crying with frustration and anger"."For the past few months we have on a regular basis had more than 50 patients waiting for a bed and that wait being in excess of 60 hours," Graham Ellis, the clinical director of Royal Preston hospital, told executives in a letter leaked to the Health Service Journal. He added: "We have witnessed senior experienced staff crying with frustration and anger as they have had to resuscitate patients in the waiting room, examine in the viewing room and CT changing room, seen patients leave the department as they have been pulled out of a cubicle to allow someone more unwell to be treated in their former space and patients die without the dignity of privacy."West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts said its most recent figures show a 14.2% increase in attendance compared with the same week last year. | gozzie2

05/4/2022 17:00 | Riots have happened before. If people can't live, they have nothing to lose .A high chance of civil unrest.FACT | gozzie2
05/4/2022 16:58 | this will shirley impact pubs. Britain’s MI5 has always maintained that the UK is just four away meals from anarchy. So with fractured supply chains, rising costs, and failing agricultural policy, how worried should the Brits – who are net importers of food – be? Ross Ashcroft is joined by agricultural analyst Michael Raw to discuss our national food security. Serious talk re food supply, remember the nonsense of rewilding, mro. | mroalan
05/4/2022 16:09 | Its almost like your gov wants pubs to close. | mroalan
05/4/2022 11:07 | All pubs will struggle this year .Rising costs and less money in people's pockets is not a recipe for better business. I'm looking to the future not this year . | gozzie2
05/4/2022 10:58 | It maybe they are giving them up as coming to end of leases and not worth renewing at current rates. Although I don't see many new ones opening. | isis
05/4/2022 10:55 | I've been in both of those in the last 12 monthsIt's probably my fault lol | gozzie2
