Numbers down on people going to horse racing ,Wimbledon and other sporting events .It's not just pubs .It's either covid and the habits of people changing ,or the cost of living. It's probably a combination of both , as they are expensive venues to visit. When they charge 7 pound a pint on racecourses what do they expect ???You have to back 6 winners ,to get the expenses back lol.

The food needs a mention,as the mates have been longstanding wetherspoons diners, but now prefer yates food deals, when there is one available.

Been buying these over the past few weeks (I know UKplc is f.....d and consumer confidence about to dive further so no pub chain will make money for at least a year but on my almost daily visits to JDW-food only-during work-I notice they are turning over, crowds much less than pre pandemic but still respectable-if they can keep it up and cut costs. interest payments not too high as mostly freehold and more of a property company now with mrkt cap well underwritten by freeholds. Menus imo getting a bit stale and would like to see a bit more 'freshly' cooked food-even simple pasta dishes, roast beef, mash etc and even half decent breakfast croissants (not expensive to buy in and easy to bake-many companies eg Pret-do them) but give choice and get footfall in early mid morning-I'm tiring of the bacon/egg stuff every day. I realize their kitchen model is not geared to on time 'freshly cooked' food but the menu needs an overhaul imo in any case with a nod towards more variety for the non bacon butty types, esp in the present environment where people will want better value and variety for money. Enjoy your banter and useful insights into what's happening in your locals Gozzie. Expect these (and Grg) and markets to fall further but will keep adding as believe UK will turn corner a year before next election.

LolI'm slowing down ,we only had halves in each one .The mates are in age ranging from 65 to 73.I'm the youngest at 60 .It's very lively liverpool and probably not representative of the pub trade in general. There is a large discrepancy in price between similar pubs .A civilised thing was happening in one Spoons.A thing called a queue .I've not seen one of those in a pub for a while lol.

Gas and electric and petrol impossible
Spoons should start dumping properties and divi proceeds to shareholders, so they can buy a pint

Must be a mixed bag then, because all the spoons I've been in are busy. The prices in some of these other pubs are ridiculous and unsustainable .My mate said tonight ,uber in the taxi business and Spoons in the pub business are the future and he has nothing to do with investing . I agree .It's not rocket science??

I have brought in for first time for long term share price recovery. I’m a regular and believe in spoons business plan to succeed . Need patience , but in couple years expect north of £10 again . Pub culture and eating out will never disappear from brits . GLA

The cost of living squeeze is in full flow now. Tax rises, inflation.

Will feed down to earnings of most companies eventually.
