There’s been spikes towards the end of April, June and now August – ie every 2 months. Could be wrong – often am – but this one looks like it might stick from a TA perspective. Throw in a bit of news and we might see ‘that’ 63p bid!

Saw this yesterday re California:

“California is getting closer to the potential legalization of sports betting, and significant progress could come from a new initiative that will be driven by some of the biggest players in the industry…… This initiative would allow for in-person sports betting at tribal casinos as well as four horse-racing tracks including the Santa Anita Park, Del Mar Racetrack, Los Alamitos Race Course, and Golden Gate Fields”;

But it also mentioned “Four such tribes have presented an initiative for sports betting that has received the requisite signatures to go before voters on November 8, 2022”; ie no further forward in terms of time frame so didn’t post it.

However, there is also this “With three separate proposals potentially headed to the ballot, the issue could be resolved next summer in the state Capitol”.

But which itself then goes on to add “Lawmakers could craft a compromise measure that would prompt tribes, card rooms, race tracks and the sports betting giants to withdraw their proposals before next fall”.

And “But the interest groups have tried for years to get their own versions of bills through the Legislature without success”.



Not sure whether today’s action is connected to the above, TA or just being undervalued?

30 Aug 2021: Might be of some relevance to WEB going forward re Arizona and wider afield.

“Turf Paradise Racing’s lawsuit argued that its racing is a “professional sport,” as defined by the act, and that Turf Paradise itself is a professional sports venue, which means it should have been approved for an operator’s license”


“Two emergency hearings scheduled for Friday could delay or halt the rollout of AZ sports betting if either leads to an injunction”

25 Aug 2021 – A bit more on New Jersey offering fixed odds on horse racing; just wonder whether this will also be the case for WEB? I emailed them about a week ago but no response so far:

“Licensed operators will be able to offer both tote and fixed odds betting through integrated systems, drawing upon BetMakers’ fixed odds and tote solutions, extensive coverage, and entrenched operations to implement effective programs”

It does seem that the focus on mergers and aquisitions across the sector is gaining renewed momentum.
