A valid question but one that could be asked of any company taken private at any price.

That would be a very foolish move. Volex is acquisition hungry. An attraction for sellers is getting some of the payment in Volex shares. A track record of a rising Volex share price post acquisition will encourage management of privately owned businesses to sell to Volex at earnings enhancing (for Volex) p/e's, because the vendors can ride the upside.If Volex went private, acquisitions would be much harder to come by and Volex would have to pay more for them.

But he could have tried that at 32p, or at any rate under £1 - but didn't - so why try now?

As we know, Nat Rothschild is the majority shareholder. He is only a few % off the trigger level for having to make a bid for the outstanding share capital.

This is worth bearing in mind, as he and his supporting institutions are now in a position to take VLX private to capture future value for themselves. Time will tell.

Yes 2021 is certainly looking good for Volex, should be the start ( or continuation rather ) of what I hope will be something of a golden decade for them.

Honda already said they are not making petrol or diesel cars beyond 2022 - only all-electric or hybrid.

I can see more car companies investing their ideas in EV, hardly any point bringing out petrol/ diesel ideas when governments around the world are talking about banning them.
