It's best to look forward here and not backwards. The company are turning themselves around and have a new boss.

I think it will not be long for that 140p gap to close.

May miss out but looking at the chart over the last six months the share price has done precious little and now the news is out I would expect the share price to slip back. all in mho ofcourse

I think when the share price gets above 110p, we could see a nice spike up. I wonder if the new boss will fill his boots with shares of vlx?

Shame he didn't put his money where is mouth is.... Still, an outgoing director buying is surely positive.

very strange - but surely an even better sign than the usual director/PDMR purchases ?

Been under distribution for a while now, first indication of that supply being exhausted today. Technically warranted an initial entry so I've taken one.

Still a sound business it seems, the fears of some have been overstated, recovery seems in sight. Sound balance sheet.

At the risk of upsetting some of the sensitive souls (see a few posts from last week - I would have thought that my adopted name suggests an element of self-deprecation rather than a 'look at me aren't I great' attitude. i.e. in saying that I bought 25+ tranches of these shares I'm saying that I have undertaken an act of gross stupidity many times and don't know any better than to keep doing the same thing. But anyway...):

These are acceptable results, but again there is little about the future. What happened to the February RNS of 'new business from a global multinational'? A new CEO could take it anywhere, and meantime the Chairman remains, doing god-knows-what.

In terms of the numbers, the cashflow (as always) is the thing to focus on. Looking at either EBITDA ($18.3m) or Net Cash from Operations before non-recurring ($18.9m with much the same definition) is the best indicator of what they did last year, before spending $27m on capital expenditure and a further $7m on restructuring/severances. After dividends and tax, you then get the overall movement in net debt. Going forward, the potential is clearly there with the margins they make and a cash generation of $19m (albeit $41m the year before).

57m shares in play, forward sustainable EBITDA of $30m (£20m) (can they do that?!)would suggest a valuation recovery to around 180-200 level, which is valuation of £115m or $170m - less than six times EBITDA, with (what will be) no debt or legacy issues.

Also agree about the takeover (both arguments) - someone would be likely to take a look now, but that a key issue is the 25% shareholder.

Nowt to do but hold on to them for now. While we wait, a 3% yield is helpful in this environment.

I don't think there are any immediate catalysts for a higher valuation for this share, but I think it is a good bet if you are willing to hold for a few years.

Investec has upgraded its recommendation on electrical and optical interconnect solution provider Volex [LON:VLX] to 'buy' from 'hold' after the company reported better-than-expected preliminary results.

The group has also announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive, Christoph Eisenhardt, who will succeed Ray Walsh at the start of July.

The City broker has increased its price target by 15 pence to 120 pence per share
