Do we know why stuff is going up today?

Is it because of the doodle dadlers and spoggles?
Or somehthing even more important like US kitlers better than expected?

So if I hold off buying more for now, what do you think the maximum dividend yield will reach? 8%?

I dont know why you say sadly, I love these corrections - this is where the serious money is made.

not enough to hold it up as it can change suddenly when a company cuts or stops paying dividends . sadly chart suggests further downside to about 135 support level and markets are bearish lately .

in normal times it would be good for bank margins Netcurtains. But it might mean more mortgage defaults which is a negative for domestic banks and of course house prices just as i am trying to sell my house with only one viewer since listing in October 2022 ( wry smile ) . have reduced price 4 times and that viewer loves the house and garden but can not get an offer on house they are selling - stipid english chain system :)

Nationwide hiking mortgage rates by up to 0.45% as inflation shocks markets
UK mortgage lenders are hiking their borrowing rates as higher-than-expected UK inflation drives up the interest rate on UK government debt.

Are mortgage rates going up good-ish for bank profits?

Do we know why this went down this morning while HSBC went up?

You would think all the banks would behave more or less the same.

must take all that with a pinch of salt unfortunately . The share price is where it is because the market thinks it should be there . It was October 2018 when the share price was double the present price

"Shore Capital: Virgin Money could be a bid target
First-half results from Virgin Money (VMG) were a ‘mixed bag’, but the shares are worth more than double the current price, says Shore Capital.

Analyst Ben Williams retained his ‘buy’ recommendation and ‘fair value’ target price of 320p on the challenger bank, which fell 1.2%, or 1.8p, to 145.4p at the end of last week.

The bank reported better-than-expected profit in the first half owing to higher net interest margins, which were largely offset by worse-than-expected bad loan provisions. Williams said the ‘outlook is mixed’ for the rest of the year.

‘Virgin Money’s shares are down 16% year-to-date and currently trade on a trailing profit/tangible net asset value of just 0.4 times versus guidance for return on tangible equity of more than 10% in full-year 2024,’ he said.

‘Our last published fair value of 320p equates to a trailing profit/tangible net asset value of 0.9 times and implies the shares are worth more than double the current price.’

Williams does ‘not think the very low valuation can be overlooked’ and that Virgin Money ‘could be a bid target if its share price doesn’t recover soon’."
