I've been saying for some time that I thought the equity was fundamentally worthless. It looks like the pro's have decided the same thing. I just wonder whether Gorgeous Geoff's Frankenstein will be able to survive a couple of very tough years.

I think it may get worse!
The message is that the company net of debt is worthless. The market cap is £ 400 m

The vultures are circling!

The super yacht must be a massive cash drain for Wilding, unless its rented out continually. Running costs > £10m a year. Super yachts are not assets - they are a way of losing money very quickly. Remember he draws a salary less than most people on this BB and VCP doesn't pay a dividend. So, where is the money coming from to maintain this playboy lifestyle - remember anyone with a super yacht will have the cars and luxury houses to match? He is continually trying to get the share price up or raise cash for acquisitions (e.g. tiny buy-backs and giving out share options at double the share price). The equity and debt route are both now effectively closed. Look at the yield on the debt.

In my view the super yacht revelation is a good guide to Wilding's real personality. He is a very shrewd entrepenuer, but I personally don't trust his intentions as being honest; his actions don't match his great words. The Buffett quotes are cover for something else going on in my view.
I'm not convinced that this is all going to end well.

Negative equity
An “entrepreneurial” CEO indeed I believe the AIM award for Entrepreneurship in 2015 went to Mr Wilding .

Oh to be young again watching Coloroll flapping in the wind with the “Entrepreneur “ of the day John Ashcroft moaning about “detractors “ . One thing is certainly true Mr Wilding has made a kings ransom so far.

Time to move on and find the next wunder kid.

I didn't understand RNS 2280V about the physical settlement by Capital Group. Can anyone explain? I wonder if Capital Group is associated with Wilding.

Thank you Arthur, I was about to post the very same link. Yep, I’d far rather take heed from FT (or Alphaville) commentary as opposed to a couple of geeks on Twitter, although, probably unlike you, this article somewhat reassures me. Yes, it underscores the fact that we have a maverick CEO (who didn’t know that) but it also quite rightly points out that the company underwent a very similar short attack back in 2018 (with very similar horror stories about the company’s historic deals suddenly emerging out of the blue)…………

“The share price has long attracted scrutiny from short sellers and sceptics. In 2018, The Analyst — the equity research shop known for well-timed short recommendations on companies such as NMC Health and THG — published a series of negative reports probing Victoria’s acquisitions and Wilding’s business record. Later that year, Victoria had to call off its planned debut bond deal, after its stock cratered nearly 40 per cent in a week.”

And yes, it does cite Wilding’s yacht, which Alphaville point out is valued at $56m and is rented out at a staggering 550k Euro per week (which in my book, makes it a pretty shrewd investment!). The article makes no reference at all to the historic transactions the Twitter boys are keen to showcase and I note that Miles Dyson (the lead Twitter protagonist) yesterday reverted to commentating on an actual bullish note from Vulcan Value Partners, quoting them as saying “We believe that a more conservative posture is warranted given their sensitivity to the economy and the recent acquisitions”, but omitting to comment on their very next sentence, namely……“ The stock price, however, remains extremely discounted.” Vulcan own 12% of VCP & remain bullish.

It's also (probably) one of those coincidences I cited earlier in the week that the latest round of Tweet attacks suddenly appeared a couple of days before Blackrock increased their short position (3rd August). The two events of course couldn't possibly be related (probably). ;-)

Coincidences abound!

I don't know if you'll be able to read this, the FT is behind a paywall, but if you Google Victoria PLC FT you should be able to find a link to access it.

Presumably the reason for the uplift. Don’t suppose they minded the price hike.

the share buy back seemed a bit gung-ho and pretty irregular given their negative cash flow, they could well be looking to raise more money soon !

Nice to go into the weekend having banked a quick 20% gain in the week, read the article made sense and appeared to provide evidence and mighty relaxed in the knowledge I have no shares now.... Notice they are back on the downward track ...
