So why hasn't the price gone up when the market is up generally? I was expecting a decent leap today.

Seems like solid performance given the macro-economic climate. However, I can’t agree with Arthurs comments on hyperinflation. The impact from hyperinflation is booked within equity, not the income statement. The reported NPAT (net profit after tax) is GBP47.5m and the adjusted NPAT is GBP30.1m, both clearly positive and in the RNS to see.

Athur please enlighten me on your math and where you derive "significantly loss making". I do not see it.

It all looks promising to me in these times of austerity - but what do I know

And once again despite the record results, without the Turkish hyperinflation adjustment they were significantly loss making.

One bright spot is it looks like they are going to start buying in their bonds. If Gorgeous Geoff is serious about delivering shareholder value and not just ramping up the price of the shares it's the best thing they can do.

My guess is the majority is residential where there is more profit when this global economy turns around.Saying that, I believe the company is quite diversified with its customer base.

Victoria Carpets
Residential vs commercial

I’d think far more residential than Headlam. Though as a manufacturer of energy intensive ceramic tiles Victoria might have a bit more cost pressure than the distributor Headlam

But given the rise in the Victoria price I’m probably off the mark.

But given the headlam comments on commercial flooring the drop in the JHD price ( and JHD is ? I thought mainly commercial flooring ) it’s certainly a head scratching one

Can anyone tell me what percentage of VCP's sales is residential and what percentage is commercial?

I only ask because HEAD warned today (a pretty mild warning mind).

Apparently residential is struggling but is partly offset by a better performance from commercial. Europe is doing ok.

If Gorgeous Geoff was acting in concert with Spruce House they would already have been required to make an offer for the company.

By the way the current valuation is not peanuts imo. I think the equity is worthless.

Has Wilding got any connection with Spruce House? I can't get rid of this fear that he is going to take it private for peanuts but hopefully I'm just being paranoid.

Things are looking up and there are a number of indicators that point to things continuing to improve;

Victoria recently bought a solid business in the US delivering $7m of Ebitda for a great price, only 4x Ebitda in Cash on Completion, plus an Earn-Out arrangement.

The business has confirmed EBITDA in excess of £100m for the first half of the year, despite all the well-known headwinds (many of which are now easing).

Always bet with the insiders, and in this case that’s Spruce House who very recently bought more than 1.4m shares, Victoria itself which has bought nearly 2m of it’s own shares in recent months, and the CEO, Philippe Hamers, who has also bought shares in recent months.

Geoff Wilding and the rest of the board would not be directing Victoria to buy its own shares if they were not confident in the future of the business.

The share price has this week been touching the 200 day moving average. If it breaks through this level, many investors will see that as a very solid signal for a continued upward trend.

While it’s clear that the next 12 months are going to be difficult, the medium to long term outlook, which is what matters, must be for a much improved share price over what it is today, which is still less than half what it was at the beginning of the year.

I see another institution has offloaded ~1m shares.

So who's right? Spruce House who are buying or Vulcan and others who are selling.
