... More jam in 5 years project.

Better chance of (ITX) announcing their US listing this morning, over taking these and the share price is only 1.8p!

Question for @superg and others.

BIDS news today has basically showed it to be a massive promotion and the share price has crashed. Both James Draper (CEO of BIDS) and Neill have used VOX Markets extensively to promote their shares.

Sure one could be lying and the other not but I think we can safely say that anyone willing to pay VOX can say whatever they like in a podcast and there is absolutely no way to know if it is the truth.

Versarien plc
("Versarien" or the "Company")

Airbus Graphene Flagship Project

Versarien plc (AIM: VRS), the advanced materials engineering group, is pleased to announce that it has been selected to participate in the Graphene Flagship project led by Airbus (the "Project").
Funded by the European Commission, the Graphene Flagship facilitates cooperation between its partners, accelerating the timeline for industry acceptance of graphene technologies. The Project that Versarien will participate in will be led by Airbus and will focus on graphene-enhanced thermoelectric ice protection systems.
Ice accumulates on the surfaces of airplanes affecting the pilot's control of the aircraft. Thermoelectric ice protection systems prevent this from happening using an ultra-thin conductive layer to generate heat. The Project, which is categorised by the Graphene Flagship as a "Spearhead", large-scale commercialisation project, aims to develop graphene-based thermoelectric ice protection systems and to advance the technology readiness level of graphene in these systems.
To fund Versarien's participation in the Project it has received approval for a €350,000 grant from the Graphene Flagship.
Elmar Bonaccurso, Senior Scientist and Project Manager for Surface Technology at Airbus, commented: "Airbus has been following the Graphene Flagship from the beginning. Now, after six years of successful research and development, we are at the right point to step in with a larger project. We expect that, by using graphene as a material for ice protection systems, we can reduce the complexity of these systems to create a system that uses less energy, reduces fuel consumption and allows us to become more environmentally friendly in aviation."
Neill Ricketts, CEO of Versarien, commented: "We are very pleased to be working with Airbus on this key Graphene Flagship project and to be receiving funding from the Graphene Flagship to facilitate it. This is another example of Versarien's graphene technology being deployed in the aerospace sector, one where it has the potential to add significant value. We look forward to starting work on this project in the New Year and reporting on its progress and those of our many other commercialisation projects in due course."

'categorised by the Graphene Flagship as a "Spearhead", large-scale commercialisation project' - £2.60 (at least) by Easter 2020? :)

It’s the airline seat light weighting project that is capable of generating significant shorter term revenues.

It confirms what we knew was going on. VRS appear even further ahead of the competition than I had hoped when I first invested.

GICE

Core 3 Spearhead Project GICE will focus on the design of thermoelectric ice protection systems (IPS), which will play a major role in next generation aeronautical products.

It looks more or less that VRS are the only ones that tick enough boxes to meet the criteria. VRS were with bus and Victrex at a 2 day 'event' with just a few partners at Exeter Uni CALM a couple of years ago.

So I believe VRS are part of it.

Criteria below

10kg/month GRM production: Sustainable production of GRMs on the scale of 10 kg/month (following ISO/TS 80004-13:2017(en) material specifications for graphene flakes). The production process must be in operation commercially.

Spray deposition or brush painting of GRM: GRM-based ink formulations suitable for spray deposition (preferred) or brush painting (acceptable) of coatings under standard paint shop conditions, with good adhesion on different substrates (polymers, carbon and glass fibre composites, metals);
>10kW/m² heating power density for an applied voltage of for applied voltage up to 230V AC, 3-phase, or 540V DC (+/-270V) for GRM-based coating

Electrical contacts: Expertise in fabricating electrical connectors (using tin based solder or similar technology) to GRM-based coatings (expertise demonstrated via publications or patents or products)

Experience in heating applications and aerospace components: Demonstrated capability of integrating GRM-based heating coatings in representative aerospace components.

There was always only going to be one winner Airbus is the largest European aerospace original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and Sonaca is a strategic Tier-1 supplier of components for Airbus, but also for other European and international aerospace OEMs.The selected demonstrators are components that must be protected during flight in icing conditions:• A large slat for single aisle A/C• A rotor blade for helicopters (H/C)• A ventilation scoop air inlethttpS://graphene-flagship.eu/SiteCollectionDocuments/Core3_Invitation_EoI_GICE.pdfInteresting to see what VRS needed to achieve to meet standard1. Graphene meets iso standards2. Produce 10/kg per month now + proof to expand to 10 tonnes p.a3. Commercially viable price points (data on performance of heating across different materials)4. Proof the graphene inks works via spray gun deposition5. Ability to prototype, test and integrate heating elements and sensor elements into components Now whilst the project is due to complete in 2023 there will be a ramp up in orders as testing progresses and below you can see what a complex process this is and another example of integrating graphene into an end to end supply chain. This will undoubtedly open up other use cases for them to work on with these partners such as wings, rudders, interiors etc ...These three demonstrators will have an integrated graphene-based IPS and a graphene-bases ice detection sensor –all technologies derived from previous activities in Core 1/2. The GICE partners will test features of the demonstrators in operational environment in icing wind tunnel tests(IWTT), assess their operability (reparability, maintainability, replacement), but foremost demonstrate the industrialization of the manufacturing process –which is the most demanding step towards industrialmaturation of the technology. The partners cover all strategic positions of the whole value and supply chain), from material development & production (CAM, NAN, CNA), to functional element manufacturing (CNR, ULB, CNA), to integration in composite elements (FID, CNA, FOR), to integration of these "semi-finished" sub-components (or technology bricks) into final components (FID, SON, AIR), to quality assessment of sub-components (CAM, FOR, FID), to integration into the final product (AIR, SON), to finally obtain the required type certifications from the transport agencies (European Aviation Safety Agency -EASA -and the Federal Aviation Administration -FAA).A great partnership and potential to create very sticky high margin / high value revenues for a long time.

Excellent news and a good application given the amount of disruption to flight schedules the de-icing process can cause as well as the prospect of reducing the use of de-icing liquid. Apart from the grant revenue the main takeaway from the RNS is this is a specific commercialisation project. Well done to the team at VRS!

As mentioned in an earlier post, the Advance Materials Development Centre has just been completed at their Airbus wing production in Broughton. I often thought when passing, there's a distinct possibility that graphene will be developed here one day.
