Zhucheng City contains the largest ever find of dinosaur fossils on Earth (notwithstanding ADVFN), including Hadrosaurs, tyrannasaurus rex & nineiron buttisauruses. A veritable dragons' den.

Because VRS has a lot of PI involvement the only shorting that can be taken out is on spreadbetting companies as there are few II's who will loan them out for shorting at the moment.

s/b companies limit their risk on the amount of shorts allowed / long taken out usually around 25% and stop there.

s/b companies use bots to take money out of peoples pockets that is why 80% or more lose money on spreadbets, best solution to that for most is don't use them on AIM companies as it is an easy target as many have recently found out.

mm's short of shares target spreadbetters to fill their stock needs. If anyone listens to the link they will know that the network of mm's are in regular contact and 'tree shakes' are part of their strategy.

On the flip side they don't always win but are happy with 6 out of 10 success rate.

For those that want to know how mm's operate , listen to this guy from Winterfloods very recently interviewed and being very open as to how they operate.

just a coincidence that his name is Crooks (ahem), an hour in all but well worth the listen.

Jeez.... no wonder the analysts started buying.

I agree superg1. I have been an investor for a long time. I never use stop/loss points. I was reflecting on the recent share price action and the role of market makers in it. I totally agree with your observations.

I'm not sure of your market experience.

Market makers are what it says on the tin, they make a market, that's how they make money.

They are not allowed to drop the price randomly to take out a stop loss they might want to square their books. However I, like many others here, have seen dips seconds long stop loss position taken then back the normal, not one PI manages to get the price displayed = a Market maker live fraud.

So VRS news hit, VRS is an active share. MMs rub hands together, they drop the price taking out stop losses and margin calls to get some stock. PIs tried to buy yet getting anything on the lows was restricted to very few shares and a lucky few.

The MMs in the drop created a load of trades, aka money in their pocket on the enhanced number of shares being traded.

The reality is that event was the Mms making a market rather than being flooded with shares they didn't want.

A case of what Scrutable has warned about many times on shares like this.

If they get a sniff of genuine chance (they can read into it what they like) to move a price to create action, then they will.

It doesn't matter what price it is to them if they are not already holding 100's of 1000's of shares. Clearly none of them were and to create a supply they dropped the price on news.

Sure enough some got stopped out on lows, that's their choice on risk management, personal I never use them, for me it's just a flag in the ground for MMs to spot and take.

If anyone gets stopped out on a non guaranteed stock loss then it's because the MMs wanted the stock, if they were flush with shares and running way the stop can be ignored. Non guaranteed stops are pointless, if it is really bad genuine news and a sell off the stop won't trigger. If it's stock they want it will trigger, a win/win for the market.

As with all results it’s the narrative that goes with them that’s the important part. It’s all in the interpretation! NR made himself available to investors and Berenberg have made their presentations. We have had a chance to understand the details of the results. And the reaction? A massive rebound in the share price

The actual wording of the roadshow is as follows, It was on screens that us mortals can't. I have a screenshot of it,

Released 5th Dec

Versarien Non-Deal Roadshow Set By Berenberg for Dec. 12-13

That's the exact wording, non deal means not fund raising.
