22/11/2019 14:32 | It’s all happening in Gloucestershire! Just seen the video showing the build of Dowty Propellers new factory in Gloucestershire. Very impressive with operations scheduled to commence in late 2019! Looking at the BB header above and VRS collaboration number 15, am I right to assume it’s with Dowty Propellers, owned by General Electric, forming part of its GE Aviation Systems division? 15. 27/3/18 -Collab with a world leading aerospace group - engines & mechanical systems & sensory devices - propeller initial £200k FULL RNS: | ![]() bobsworth

22/11/2019 13:50 | Kermorkid.....the phrase that stands out for me in the podcast is................. "this is about being embedded into a national manufacturing strategy". This is China for heaven's sake......something as huge as this is going to take time particularly as the whole thing has ballooned in the last few months. You either get it or you don't. | melf
22/11/2019 13:50 | cheers meb. well worth a listen to again to refresh whats happening ...all positive listen. | jointer13
22/11/2019 13:40 | Super, Can we please leave the design and installation of these arches to the guys that understand it and stop trying to influence how they should be made, it will only confuse them. | ![]() par4artthou

22/11/2019 13:21 | the savings in labour alone must be quite substantial. "The company looked at replacing the traditional bolt and screws method of deploying digital systems in tunnels, which takes four shifts to install, by developing an arch on which the digital technology is attached, that doesn’t bolt to any existing infrastructure and takes only one shift to install. The CNCTArch can be used in both tunnels and open environments and has the potential to transform the deployment of digital traffic management systems, Aecom believes." | jointer13
22/11/2019 13:18 | If graphene enhancement is indeed going to drastically reduce the volume of concrete and/or its cement content, and the type of material used as reinforcement (replacing rebar and mesh), and is going to have equally dramatic effects across numerous industries, ardent shorters might be wise to research which producers and users of traditional materials are going to lose out due to reduced demand - rather than trying to fight the graphene tide with downbets on Versarien. I suspect there will be some quite big companies who don't appreciate the reality of the graphene/2d/3d revolution, and who won't know what's hit them until they are overtaken by upstarts who do get it. Big name companies are sometimes slow to suss threats to their dominance. In the early 1960s I recall my schoolmates and me being given a guided tour of the BSA motorcycle factory in Small Heath - where managers scoffed at the idea that Japanese bikes by Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki, with their electric start buttons, would ever pose a real threat to British bikes with traditional kickstart. At its peak, BSA (including Triumph) was the largest motorcycle producer in the world. There have been numerous examples in other industries. Kodak for example There will be some, even now, who are scoffing at graphene. Search the word graphene on many large company websites and there is no mention of it - not even in the companies' forward looking plans. | ![]() grabster

22/11/2019 12:51 | If you're concerned about China not happening yet, it's worth listening "very carefully" again to this podcast. | melf
22/11/2019 12:50 | I will point out the obvious , sectional components have been designed for two people to put the arches up , any damage in any section can be taken out and replaced in situ. A complete unit would need to be taken out complete, logistics and cost as well as weight and flex considerations have dictated the smart design. | ![]() luckyorange
22/11/2019 12:43 | the arch is designed to be in sections...ffs its going in a tunnel if I was working on the rails that's exactly how I would want it to be. allows for different sizes and ease of putting in situ. | jointer13 |
