13/8/2019 18:19 | Isn't it Smythe...just shown my wife that and she thinks it's outrageous having met Graham at GEIC and being a shareholder (and ex Head Teacher).I think she is quite capable of expressing her own opinions the one today being that Graham should not bring her name on to the Bulletin board and put words she has not uttered into her mouth. She did say however that I shouldn't waste so much time on here with people we don't really care about. | pshevlin
13/8/2019 18:17 | pshevlin, I know (and have known) quite a few school teachers, but I think you are the first - that I recall - that considers themselves superior to a large proportion of your fellow human beings. How sad. | spike_1
13/8/2019 18:08 | Pathetic!!! | smythe2
13/8/2019 18:00 | Well said PShevlin.Rise above him, he's beneath contempt. | festario
13/8/2019 17:56 | Really Super? I thought you might stay a little above the fray. Since you don't seem to have read what I have written I suppose I could call you all sorts of names and get away with it. I think you might find that my wife thinks nothing of the sort indeed she might well say that most people on here are not worth the time of day having such narrow uncultured interests, even your magnificent self. Perhaps next time we meet up you might explain how, even though you don't bother to read my posts you feel entitled to comment on them and pronounce me guilty. Oh well I suppose it's exactly what I might expect from an ex copper. In my profession we took the time to look a little more carefully into peoples characters before we judged them and then tried to help if there were problems. Like Fest it really is a waste of time communicating with most on here with a few exceptions. | pshevlin
13/8/2019 17:43 | This may interest some people: | laginaneil
13/8/2019 17:27 | PShevlin, as I say, after today I've decided to stop wasting my time, and money. | festario
13/8/2019 17:25 | Getting personal now is SuperG.Try mentioning his family in a post, I expect he'll respond with one of his many death threats.... yawn.... | festario
13/8/2019 17:23 | Spike What I do know is Shevlins wife has ago at him about what he posts as she thinks it's offensive and wants him to delete it. Her words not mine, in person. I use filter so I've no idea what the tone is, but filter means I've heard enough knowing that paying attention will not furnish me with any decent information or decent debate. | superg1
13/8/2019 15:56 | Cup very much full!! There are many sectors graphene can disrupt and Vrs are well placed to do so. Excited about the future. Ff | forestfred
13/8/2019 15:39 | Lol dave, every little bit helps though eh? ;-) | tim3416

13/8/2019 15:14 | Maybe we will have enough cash to buy a Graphite company if the BIGT deal goes through. | pshevlin
13/8/2019 15:09 | Following on from supereg’s posts about graphite a day or so ago, I’ve been doing a bit of research. Just to summarise… China produces 70/80% of all graphite , followed by India and Brazil.. the 3 combined producing approximately 90%. The US produces hardly any. Demand is currently over 1million tonnes/annum. Despite being the largest producer by far, China are still a net importer…in June they imported 21.5k tonnes of flake graphite. India is also a net importer… The Chinese have cracked down on industrial pollution which is effecting the graphite industry, restricting supply. This, combined with increased demand for batteries etc is naturally forcing prices up. The same is happening in India. Graphite Bangalore was closed in February this year. I’m sure you can all see where this is going…flake graphite demand is already expected to more than double in the next 5 years and with the graphene revolution upon us it does make you wonder where the supply is going to come from and where the price will go. There are new companies appearing, Tirupati, in Madagascar for one which plans to increase it’s production to 81kTPA flake graphite and 20k TPA of speciality graphite over the next year but we will need quite a few more of those if graphene is going to do what we all anticipate it will. | woodpeckers
13/8/2019 15:06 | Hey davemac! Back again on a red day posting about what worries you? Anyone would think you were trying to sow seeds of doubt here? Surely not... | tim3416
13/8/2019 14:46 | Perhaps one more as he speaks regularly to Tony Hall at the BBC and a close friend I suspect that his view will be similar to this... "However despite fears of direct intervention in Hong Kong, Beijing's most effective tool to calm the unrest is likely to be a subtle but potent economic one. Hong Kong is an economic powerhouse, and has remained so since handover in part because of the special status it has enjoyed as part of the handover agreement. But cities on the mainland like Shenzhen and Shanghai have rapidly caught up since 1997 nonetheless. If Hong Kong continues to challenge Beijing's authority, the government could further redirect investment and trade towards the mainland, squeezing Hong Kong's economy and making it far more reliant on Beijing's goodwill. | luckyorange
13/8/2019 14:25 | Good idea Lucky. I have a friend in Hong Kong so I will ask them but I would imagine they are pretty much in the dark. | pshevlin
13/8/2019 13:28 | I am going out for a pint from someone who lives in Shanghai tomorrow night , he has been writing about political and industrial China for years and keeps his eye on the ball and ear to the ground. If there is anything to be concerned about regarding VRS position he will let me know, I would guess the world is watching and that is important to China as a huge part of their belt and road initiative. As far as Trump is concerned, elections soon, we will see! End of religious and political comments for me. | luckyorange
13/8/2019 13:24 | Hong Kong is becoming more of a worry | davemac3
13/8/2019 13:23 | Obviously DGD won't be listening. | pshevlin
13/8/2019 13:18 | I only criticise what they say and will also say why, you may disagree if you wish. The majority of people on here contribute very very little to the board apart from pointing to some piece of research re. Graphene that has absolutely nothing to do with VRS. I'm not the only person to point that out.If I see something that has cropped up in the news I normally ask Neill and he is kind enough to reply. Apart from SG , Woody , Mike Brenner and one or two others there is little that is worth reading which is directly concerned with the company and for that I give them my complete gratitude (edit SG later removed from that list). Share movements are also important but the feeling is that concern over those are outside the religious doctrine that is espoused on here. Unfortunately politics also play a part in the world in which VRS operates but again it is considered beyond the pale here, however, will the fact that the Chinese are presently massing on the border of Hong Kong along with the possibility that the visit from John Bolton mean that the UK has to choose between the US and China and have an effect on us? All politics but unwelcome here I suspect as it does relate in many ways to the dreaded Brexit. We can all contribute in some way if others are prepared to listen. | pshevlin |
