I raised the requirement to have REACH approval over a month ago when people were getting carried away with the imminent size of future orders and Neill replied on twitter to pshevlin as follows:

@neillricketts Hi Neill. There is some discussion over on ADVFN as to whether the REACH proposals will eventually limit our production. Is this correct or just a misunderstanding of the regulations?

Unfortunately people do not understand reach or the quality standards or the verification.Reach is not a problem for us.We have our own expert and one of my former colleagues is the reach expert for @Airbus and assists us. I wouldnt listen too much to those that don't understand

Obtaining REACH is a significant milestone; not because it has been difficult for VRS to achieve, but I suspect more an indicator that VRS anticipate an imminent need to make use of the authorisation for commercial scale orders.

In an earlier post I spoke of the disinterest expressed by an investment manager in VRS on learning that VRS was AIM listed.

The justification given for his disinterest was that there would be insufficient liquidity.

In the development of most stocks liquidity is a slow won metric and in isolation of any other metric I can Understand his position.

However with the receipt of £20m on completion of the BIGT deal that establishes a permanent revenue stream of unimaginable long term scale there will be an almost instantaneous transformation across a range of metrics including liquidity.

Hitherto VRS has been effectively transparent to the radar of institutional investors however with the successful completion of the BIGT deal VRS will un-cloak With transformative effect.

There are many here who have patiently waited for years for their investment to grow and I would speculate in an organic incremental manner. For their and my own sake I am now looking forward to the sudden appearance of VRS as an investable stock to result in a phase change and an almost immediate vertical hike in the share price that will require that we re-calibrate the graph of VRS growth from landscape to portrait with a much extended y axis.

For some an extrapolation of the ramp up to a ten fold increase in share price may have defined future growth expectations.

The radical strategic forward thinking of the team at VRS which has consistently overcome all traditional barriers to growth leads me to suspect that the future growth will not be linear but will be a series of step transition that could potentially deliver in a fraction of the time what would otherwise have taken decades.

I thought VRS had a collaboration with Sky (now Ineos) for bike components. Looks like they could use some graphene in the frames.

VRS will be in huge demand and as it use expands so will the share price. We may see a revaluation and new target prices. I say £1.40 plus much more....

I look forward to the naysayers on a "ha 9.5 tonnes being sold into the EU, you have maxed out" So going to get smashed down to the £12 etc.

Never mind that 50 tonnes has been exceeded in 1 of the 5 etc.

You could argue that seeing as Versarien is the only verified producer of graphene, an upper limit of 10m tonnes would give them significant pricing power. ie if there is only 10 tonnes to go around, companies will likely fight over the supply driving up price. just a thought

And before it starts can we put this part to bed.

Within Graphene REACH program they call it substances of anything less than 300nm in thickness.

Well the nano definition qualifier is 100 nm which is 300 layers of graphene. The REACH version is 300 nm which is 900 layers.

So please do not consider a REACH registration as a qualifier that some have graphene in the under 10 layer definition, as it covers up to 900 layers which is well into basic graphite.

This is the EU after all.

Who I say that is the current standard it's the maximum limit currently, just clarifying that point.

The EU requires all companies that either produce or sell over 1 ton of substances per annumn in the EU to participate in REACH. The current registration limits yearly sells to 10 tons, but the consortium is also aiming to start working on dossier updates for higher volumes (10 to 100 tons per year).

Also as far as I'm aware from the VRS news 95% plus of VRS interest in nothing to do with the EU.

EG the 5 main sectors are China, India, US, South Korea and Japan.

1000 tonnes each for those will do as a medium term starter. Just joking of course.
