Hi all - thought it would be a good idea to organise an informal Christmas meetup in London (where I'm based). There's plenty of us active here and on Twitter and once in a while it's great to put faces to names! I've certainly greatly enjoyed meeting some of you over the past year. I think the chinese mou's were massive news, and not that long after the agm. I also think as much was done as could be done, given the current us/china trade impasse. My hunch is, a possible resolution of this trade dispute could well work out very well for firms like vrs seeking expansion in both markets. Re SP, The markets set it and in uncertainty, wobbles are to be expected, and to my mind explains where we are and why the'china news' didn't produce any rockets. Logically, post a us/china trade deal, we could see jv's as confidence returns. Thus Cautiously optimistic here. Aimho. Dyor. Best ellis.

"The roots of Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP) stretch back to 1984 and the foundation of Ilmor Engineering Ltd by Paul Morgan and Mario Illien, with funding from Roger Penske.

Since 1995, the team in Brixworth has been responsible for the design and development of every single Formula One engine to wear the Mercedes-Benz badge.

Renamed Mercedes-Ilmor Ltd in 2002, the company became a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler AG in 2005, operating under the name of Mercedes-Benz HighPerformanceEngines Ltd.

Today, the company employs over 400 talented people in the design, manufacture and testing of Formula One racing Hybrid Power Units for the works Silver Arrow team, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport, and partner teams the Williams F1 Team and Sahara Force India F1 Team.

Since the first victory of the modern era for Mercedes-Benz at the 1997 Australian Grand Prix, V10 and V8 engines from Brixworth have powered (as of end 2013) a total of 90 Grand Prix victories, 91 pole positions and secured 94 fastest laps.

Mercedes-Benz powered world championship victories in 1998 (Drivers and Constructors), 1999 (Drivers), 2008 (Drivers) and 2009 (Drivers and Constructors). The company was also award the prestigious Dewar Trophy for Technical Excellence in 2009 for its Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), the first ever Hybrid system to win a Grand Prix at the 2009 Hungarian GP.

In the new, hybrid F1 era, Mercedes-Benz engines have powered the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport team to four Championship doubles (2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017).

The Mercedes-Benz Technology Centre has been fully operational since late 2009, providing the team at HPP with cutting-edge facilities in which to develop the next generation of high-performance Formula One Power Units. The site covers a total area of 126,000m2.

We found the solar panels which is the VRS/Dyesol (now great solar) news.

As I recall back then it was all about finding a way to limit degradation. So the trial no doubt is about power generated and the degradation curve over time.

The flagship talk of Mos 2 in them (other perovskite tests) which is another 2D product in the VRS stable. Prof Ferrari mentioned it at the Cambridge investor day.

Northampton Express lifts , Leather boots, Barclaycard, Bassett Lowke, It's near some F1 sites. I know three of the above aren't there any longer ....and express lifts ....not that fast imho. You can see a lift testing tower from the M1.That's it on this topic from me . Except I still see my friend's 4472 Bassett Lowke engine in my nostalgic mind.

Ha ha my 2 biggest holdings tern and vrs. Followed by opti and bmn. Long term vrs is the one that I think could be a massive worldwide company if handled well which obv think and hope will.
